For St. John’s, A Season of Promise Becomes Another Detour [NY Times]

Some of the legends from St. John’s journey to the national semifinals in 1985 will step off the history pages and onto the court at Madison Square Garden during halftime of the Red Storm’s game against Louisville on Thursday night. Lou Carnesecca, Chris Mullin and Bill Wennington are among those expected for the 25th anniversary celebration.

Since that memorable run, the program has traveled past the second round of the N.C.A.A. tournament only twice and has not been back among the Final Four. St. John’s has failed to make the tournament since 2002, and the signs have not been good lately for ending the streak this year.

....

A St. John’s spokesman said Athletic Director Chris Monasch would not comment on Roberts’s job status until the end of the season, and that the program would be evaluated then.

Even the NY Times is on it.  It must be bad.

A detour?  The car has gone off the effin' cliff.
