If Rob Thomas never blows out his knee, he puts up 18 and 9, and makes BE first team this year.

Injuries are part of the game. Harangody got hurt. TFB. The win counts just the same, and anyone who thinks it means less should get their head out of their ass.

So you're just as excited about this win as one against Cuse?  That's pathetic.

NOTRE DAME ISN'T THAT GOOD WITH HARANGODY!  WITHOUT HARANGODY THEY ARE RUTGERS-ESQUE.  What is all the fuss about?

wow celebrating a win against an ND team we SHOULD beat since they are missing one of the BE's best players.  Disgusting.

This loser attitude where a win at a depleted ND team is cause for celebration makes me want to puke.  This is a game that ANY BE team should win with Harangody out.  Nothing to celebrate.  We have no attitude of winning - act like youve been there before, at least with something minor like this win.

Its our first Big East road win...so we haven't been there before.   :)

haha good point...its just frustrating, if we had even a mediocre team this would be a nice win....but bc we are horrible the team, the fans, everyone acts like this is so huge...ugh

I don't know if everyone is acting like this is "huge" but it was fun watching the game yesterday. I enjoyed this win. I can't say I enjoy watching every St. John's game. The team played well and did a lot of things I liked.

-Ball movement was the best I've seen all season. We moved the ball a lot and moved it very quickly. I've never seen us make decisions moving the ball that quickly.

-Getting the ball into the post. We made it a point to isolate Burrell in the lower block and it was damn effective. Even if Burrell missed we had offensive board opportunities and the defense collapsed which opened up 3 point looks.

-Didn't make many stupid decisions with the ball. Sure Paris had one bad shot (I hate when he does that step back), Boothe got stuffed taking the ball to the hoop when I thought he forced it, but other than that we made very good choices on shot selection and valuing the basketball.

-We made our FT. 11-13 in the 2nd half and Burrell and DJ both made crucial FT down the stretch. Have to be happy that we executed.

The biggest glaring concern was our defense. We lost track of our man a few times on the week side giving them easy 3 point looks. Also the ball was easily thrown into the post. We were fortunate that they didn't do any ball screens because I think we struggle when we continually switch who we're guarding.

I think this game was a lot closer than it needed to be. I think the way the game was officiated made it that way. It was called very very tightly and the fact they were shooting with 10 min in the 2nd half really gave them points and impacted they way we played defensively and who we played on the court. Also ND is always great at home. If you look at their home record over the past 5 years I guarantee the loss column is single digits. It was a nice win. Enjoy it until Wednesday.

as kid said, i think the celebrating by SJU was a bit over the top.  ND without harangody is a bottom 4 team in the big east.  and youre gonna pick up your coach and carry him around the lockerroom after a 1 point win?? a bit much.

Who cares? So they did that. They were excited. Let them be excited they are kids. I'm not one to curb their enthusiasm. Just the other day Dele Coker had on his facebook how basketball wasn't fun anymore I'd be more concerned about that than them celebrating a win in the locker room.

Neither are good, IMO.  Never get too up with a win and never get too down with a loss.  Coker's facebook post is worrysome, just like a wild celebration after beating a mediocre (which is what they are without Harangody) team.

They didn't carry Norm off the court they were in the locker room palling around during post game speech which isn't uncommon for any team in any sport. I think you're overreacting about it.

Kid, um, Syracuse? What are you talking about? We haven't even played them.

ND sucks. Agreed. With, and without Harongody. My only point was that only an a rear of a donkey would point to that as the reason why we won. We won because we outplayed them.

In regards to their problems, I could care less. We have not won there in over a decade. They're such a bad team, but they're ahead of Uconn in the standings.

Who takes MVP this game?

Mason? 12 points 5 reb 4 ast 1 stl 1 blk

Burrell? 12 points 4 reb 3 ast

Hardy? 16 pts 5-7 from 3

Boothe? 7pts 3-6 shooting 5 ast

Damn we had a lot of contributors tonight.

Watched the game today and Hardy shot us back into the game when we were down 22-14. That was key getting back quickly then building a lead going into the half. Where has this TEAM been all year? Love the way they moved the ball and were not just standing around. Everyone knocked down shots. Nice to see the win and the kids enjoying it!!

Another small little play I also loved last night was when Coker was subbed in for Thomas at the end of the game when DJ was at the line for 1 with the score tied. Boothe ran in and told Coker to get out and go in the half court. So heads up by Boothe knowing the game situation knowing we didn't need the rebound make/miss and needed to play defense in transition considering ND had no time outs. Coker was already underneath the basket before the shot was even put up as our last line of defense. Great heads up basketball.

Do you doubt ND wins by 10+ if Hranagody plays?

Yes, I doubt it and you should do.  You have no idea what would of happened if Luke played.  So quit writing speculation like it's fact.

You continue to make yourself sound less and less knowledgable about basketball.  We won by ONE point.  Harangody is one of 2-3 guys who can win BE conference player of the year.  Give me a break, carmine.

This is an old post but I will agree with Carmine;  Notre Dame is extremely beatable.  Abromaitis would have had fewer shots, Nash wouldn't have seen the ball, and St. John's could have just single-covered Harangody.  I think ND would have won, and they were on the road, but I don't know that it's a sure thing - they weren't playing Nova or West Virginia.  ND's defense is really terrible.

Our interior defense was terrible.  Harangody would have eaten us alive.

My admittedly weak knowledge of basketball far exceeds your ability to do the impossible.  Make meaningful and accurate predictions about hypotheticals.  Don't kid yourself ;)...Get it.

P.S. The Duke lax team only was exonnerated due to their wealth, the power and influence of their parents and their skin color. :)

kid the only thing im saying is brey is a good coach. luke was a 4 star player just like burrel and dele was. he wasnt a all american or nothing like that. brey was the one who turned him into a all big east player of the year. kyle mcalarny wasnt all american either. he wasnt even a 4 star player but he made all big east honors. brey is very very good. good coach and system.

Kyle M was a recognized recruit. I remember when he chose ND over us.
Clearly a good move as we would have expelled for smoking weed like some backwards country in Asia.

Nah I agree with you.  I actually wonder if he succeeded Coach K as Duke coach if he wouldn't turn into an elite coach - a lot harder to get kids to ND.   That said, his teams often fizzle out towards the end of the year and in the tourney, so he's just not cutting it in terms of having his team consistent over the course of the year.  ND is usually the type of team that can beat a top team one day and then lose to a st johns the next (which they have done 3 times in the last 5 years i believe, kinda sad for them).
