Wow really, ive been waiting for the email to get my tickets but i guess not.... I'm sure they will release it to the rest of the student season ticket holders cause nobody buys them cause of spring break

I asked them about that and they told me to call back on Monday and we can maybe buy tickets for full price and not in the student section.  I am just so pissed.  This Redzone crap has to stop, why did I even buy season tickets? Last year we only had about 6 or 7 students at the games and that was with the whole season ticket population being involved.  I can't imagine that we will draw even one student to this tournament.  I had been looking forward to going all year and now I can't.  I'm seriously about to head down there and give whoever is in charge a piece of my mind.  The kid who told me on the phone hung up on me after I was giving him a piece of my mind and I asked to talk to someone in charge.

Why on earth would you want to go?

I only have 4 years at this school and I would like to enjoy them by getting some of the perks that comes with paying a lofty tuition bill.  Also, the Big East tourney is always a good time.  I have gone every year for the last 10 years for the games that St. John's has played in.   This year I will not be going unless I get student tickets, I can't afford full price ones.

If we get a day game, buy outside msg. The gangstas sell comp tickets for whatever they can get.

I got in last year for 5 bucks.

How much are the tickets for students anyways?

They were 10 bucks per session last year for courtside seats.

i bought them from a scalper last year for 10 bucks i believe [since i didnt have season tickets], and sat in the student section, with about 7-10 people. so you could probably do that.

i think the tournament tickets should be free for student ticket holders. but i doubt that would ever happen.

STJ11Redmen,

i agree with you fully on this. I have season tickets, but never bother to swipe in. I also didn't receive an email about tickets to the big east tournament.

im really glad redzone explained how this stupid mvp program works. Had i known it had anything to do with this lottery, i would of actually swiped at these games.

too bad none of them actually come on here to read this, or know anything about the team. (and the fans)

Honestly, swiping at the games doesn't even matter because you get as many points as you do for going to a men's bball game as you do for going to "Grocery Bingo" or a women's fencing event.  It's so stupid and if you don't get perks like this just from buying season tickets, then why the hell am I buying season tickets.  We played 7 MSG games and 8 Carnesecca games.  Single game tickets to these games are 10 for MSG and 5 for CA.  If I just bought individual tickets to every game it would only be 10 dollars more and I wouldn't have the commitment.  And I couldn't make 2 games so it would have actually been 5 dollars cheaper for me to not buy season tickets.

I also e-mailed Dennis Myron who is the Director of Ticket Operations, and by all accounts a great guy, about this issue and if I don't get an answer before tomorrow afternoon I'm going to go down to the ticket office and voice my concerns.

Everyone who works at SJU responds to a complaint with something along the lines of "It's not my decision"

The whole rewards program is terrible, I have never once heard somebody say "Man, I'm going to this event so I can pick up those rewards points!"  No, that's not how it works.  Honestly if they based it just on MVP points earned at basketball games I would be ok with it, but to put some joker who goes to stuff like grocery jeopardy and STJ homecoming events ahead of a big time basketball fan like me is absurd.  I guarantee out of the top 50 that they e-mailed, maybe 1 will accept and enter into the "lottery".  Last year at the Big East Tournament, the section had a 2:1 ratio adults/students so if they couldn't sell out the allotment last year to students, why have a lottery again and then on top of that subract 550 potential applicants.  It makes no sense and it appears to me like they don't want students to go because if we don't go, they can sell the tickets to alumni/season ticket holders for higher prices.

I'm alright with the MVP thing. It was a ploy to get more students at the games and there has been an increase in students this year than in years past, whether it has to do with the MVP thing idk.......But basing getting Big East Tournament tickets on this is ridiculous and ur right we'll have no students at the games

I just don't like that nobody at all was told about this whole process before it was too late for them to change anything.

OK, so I just called and spoke to a manager for the ticket office.  She told me that they have received zero responses from the first 50 MVP points earners (what a surprise) and are going to decide tomorrow at noon what they are going to do with the tickets.  She said they may move on to the next 50 or they may open it up to everyone.  I also asked about whose decision it was and they said it was an "administrative decision" to use the MVP points for the lottery and she "knew where I was coming from" when I told her how upset I was about it.  So I will call back tomorrow at noon and see what happens.
