Completely disagree with Carlin. I understand that Mark Jackson has more of a name than Fran McCaffery, Seth Greenberg, Jim Baron, and Kevin Willard, but the fact remains he has never coached at the college or professional level. He has never put together a staff, recruited a player, or balanced a scholarship situation. And let's face facts ... everyone always prefaces Norm's situation with "he cleaned up the program." Really? There has been more transfers out of this school than I can ever remember. And we have 9 players graduating next year. Maybe he cleaned up the name of the program, but this school is still going to be handicapped for years to come because of his incompetence. Is Jackson really the person that should be coming in and handling such a messed up situation? Or should they focus on someone who actually has a step-by-step solution to the problem.
This reminds me so much of the Tim Brown situation. When Brown retired from the NFL, he wanted to go into coaching, but outright refused a behind the scenes job. He basically wanted to be an offensive coordinator immediately after his retirement. It just showed his unwillingness to go through the steps to becoming a head coach. And I'm sorry to say, but that is what Jackson is showing me right now. Take a page out of Patrick Ewing's book and learn everything before you volunteer.
