Hatten. This school has a poor history of recruiting or developing shooters. Chuckie Sproling was supposed to be an assassin but that never worked out. We aren't a big man school either for that matter.

Our best players have been the slashers...Walter, Sealy, Felipe, Artest. And as Louie would say..."the point guard. Give me a point guard with a small forward type and guys who can rebound and play defense." Thats basically the SJU formula for success.

James Scott was great against Michigan, and Syracuse,
but I think the rest if his career he was Alpha Bangura.

Really Mullin and Rowan are the only real good shooters we have ever had and they both played before the three was put in. Sealy had a really pretty baseline jumper but his range didn't extend to three. Bootsy did not have a textbook jumper but he might be number three on the list for my time period.

Larry Wright, Derek Brown and Steve Shurina might have had the nicest looking jumpers, but they did not go in as much as they looked like they should.

Another pretty lookin J was Carl Beckett's catapult shot.

It didn't go in much. But he looked like he was one of them players on NBA Jams when he shot.

Charles Minlend....  He had a nice release on his shot.  Shot the 3-ball pretty good his senior season.

I could put Harvey in there. Other two before my time. Wasn't Schaeffer a good shooter as well?

Spoiling was a great scorer in high school, don't think he came in with a rep as a shooter. I believe Coach C gave him scholarship with out ever seeing him in person, bad move.

The best player the school has ever had is one the best shooters in the history of basketball. While Malik was a great slasher, he was lethal from just inside the arc.

Fred Lyson before he hurt his back. He used to drain shots from halfcourt consistently in high school during warmups.
