Mason Jr showing us what he's learned after 5 years.
Don't bother moving your feet on defense. Someone else will take care of it.

btw, memphis really gets crazy for basketball...this is a team that has been dominant for the past few years, and this year they finish 3rd in a crap conference and go to NIT and these fans were nuts all game...would love to have that at the garden one day for us

thats sad we had to deal with fans being rude and disrespectful to us and hoping we lose. to having our own fans hoping we lose.

kob, as you said yourself, you've been a fan for a few years, and only will be for a few more years.  I'm sorry - I know as a friend of multiple players on the team you have to root for every win, but this was the NIT - no chance at the title, IMO the season was over when we lost to Marquette.

I've followed this program for 26+ years - my entire life - and everyone is saying Norm is gone if we lose now, or he is back if we win a few.

He is not the right man for the job...I know you know that deep down to.  I am a HUGE fan of all of these players, and I think they deserve a shot to make the NCAA>  I think Justin Burrell - your boy - deserves the right coaching so that he has a shot at the NBA, because with the right coach mentoring him and MOTIVATING him, I think he can do it.

I think this team can make a run in the NCAA - they have the talent.

I was rooting for these kids to have the best shot to succeed next year and beyond.  I'm sorry if you're offended that it meant I was happy we lost tonight, but guess what, I was rooting for St. John's and YOUR boys - Justin and Omari.  And as I said, I rooted FOR us every game until we no longer had a shot to win the NCAA.

I root for St. John's.  And because of that, I'm happy with the result tonight.

Real fitting way to have it end.  Horrible no call on the should have been travel and then a tough make but I was not the least bit suprised.

This was a heartbreaking loss...to anyone that was happy when that shot fell I really question your fandom.

I understand wanting Norm gone but to celebrate that shot falling after the effort they gave is outrageous.  Celebrate when Norm is fired if you want not when the team loses.

I understand you rooting for them.  I understand anyone rooting for them.

And I agree with you on the fan support.  I am buying season tix for next year provided Norm is not the coach.  I think a LOT of people do that if this program gets someone with some juice like Hewitt or Greenberg.  I'll buy the season tix whether it's Marco Baldi or Billy Donovan coaching next year, as long as it's not Coach Roberts.

I hope the rest of St. John's fans do the same.

Yeah I'd guess it's because Norm hasn't gotten anyone to the NBA nor a team to the NCAA.  And because Jarvis was a jackoff to the AAU scene.

Hasn't always been like this Baldi.  It's the coach.  And we've had 2 bad ones in a row.

peekskill - the team shot decently but allowed memphis to strafe them for something like 9 of 12 from beyond the arc... in the first half.

they defended better in the 2nd half. that is to say they actually played hard. really, they took advantage of generally lackluster D from the tigers. their crowd was BIG for the NIT.

their fwd witherspoon drove from the top of the arc with 4 seconds left. mase defending. 'spoon got around him and let off a prayer shot from about 3 ft out i think... at .4 seconds or so.  it bounces once as the buzzzer sounds and in. memphis fans and players jump for joy. malik boothe falls on the ground. paris horne hugs a dejected mason. tough loss.

sean evans had what the announcers rightly called a nightmare game. and they said "really?" when brownlee released one of his specials- an ill-conceived 3pter from the corner w a lot of time left.

my more casual stj fan friends texted me hoping they could pull it out. hopefully fans more like those will be posting in the future... i want a new staff  but cheering against your team just seems unseemly. it's cool for those who choose it - i understand and am frustrated -but i ain't thanking no memphis player.

I really like you being such a regular contributor here but you say some really stupid shit sometimes. Mason has given everything to St. John's and came here when no one else would. He did everything that was asked of him and was a great ambassador of the university.

His man didn't even have the damn ball in his hands when he was traveling it and threw it up with desperation as Mason extended to block it. Jesus how is he to blame?

Many of the fans will return when the administration act like they give a darn.  The administration has treated the fans like we do not exist by shoving this poor product down our throats, so what are we suppose to do?

I know some people are gonna continue to root for wins at all cost.  But, "at all cost" was thrown out the door for me after the Providence debacle back in January.  Enough is enough!

I have a friend who is a St. John's fan and you all thought I stopped watching games....  Granted, he isn't a diehard like myself, but he still likes the Johnnies.  He probably can count on one hand how many games he's watched in the past couple of seasons.

The fan base is dying, kob.  And, the administration is for the blame.
