Agree Boo. Liked Monash's statement re: what they are looking for. Re: recruiting NYC kids, with right AAU guy on staff, they can get this done. In fact if Kimani was promoted to a true assistant coach job at a decent wage, we would be getting some kids. Look at Boo at AU. Would love to see either of these guys on staff or someone with same background. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money. Invest in your assistants!!

Monasch is saying ALL the right things.  This is his chance to leave his mark on the program.  I have confidence we'll swing for the fences.  Whether other coaches consider us a desirable landing spot, is yet to be seen.

It almost seems to me like Harrington is done with trying to put his imprint on the program and is ready to let the pro do his job.  I like it, and I don't know why but Monasch is making me feel pretty confident in him.  Also seems like Louie will have no say in this hire.

I have been a fan for a long time but new to the message boards. I would have thought that consulting Louie and basketball people with ties with SJU would be a good idea. However I have read many times that made mistakes. What did they do wrong last time?

He didn't address any candidates directly, just said that he wants a major established coach whose season may still be going on.

Norm was classy til the end.  Nice job all around by the University in handling this.  They stuck to their word of waiting til the end of the season to evaluate (which is the right way IMO), but they also made a quick decision.  They handled the release and the public statements with class.  Very well done by Monasch, the University, and Norm Roberts.

i think i feel better about having monash lead the way for finding a candidate. he knows he has to make an important hire, and that this hire will be a big part of his tenure here. [im trying to hold back from saying make or break]

we wont have to worry about conflicting view points on a hiring committee, and we dont have to worry about lou's personal feelings get in the way of the hire [no knock on coach]
