Mowed down in the elite 8 --- has Tubby been to the Elite 8 since the 90s?

Tubby is an SEC guy.  Why's he coming to NYC if Auburn wants him?

i actually agree. he is a proven recruiter, 16 out of 19 he has made the tournament. yaeh he is a little old. but he could realistically coach for 6 to 10 more years easily.

Tubby would be huge...I wish it was possible.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

I agree, he would be a great choice. Wonder why his name is never mentioned?

Is he a legit possibility or is this just pure speculation brought up by a fan?

I don't know...his resume may be impressive but looking at it in a more skeptical way, he was the coach at Kentucky when he achieved most of these things and unlike Kentucky, our school doesn't recruit stars just because we're St. John's and that happens at Kentucky.

I'm not saying he's overrated or he's a bad choice, I just wouldn't be thrilled about it. He had players to work with there that he wouldn't have here and on his wikipedia page (I don't know how accurate it is) it says Kentucky fans were livid with him because he didn't make the final four in 9 years and his recruiting skills were subpar.

kentucky fans are also douches and feel that they should be in the final 4 every year and they should get a recruiting class like this years every year...i hope huggins meets them later this tournament and wipes the floor with them

btw...ive only got 9 of the sweet 16 and 2 final four teams left in my bracket...this year sucked to predict...hows everyone else doing

Tubby: not in NY, no NY connection. Has a secure job; might enjoy rebuilding where there are new facilities and football money.

I could give a crap about his NY connections.

He's Tubby Smith. If he wants to come here, we take him in a NY minute. Tubby will walk into Doron Lamb's house, and say "Hi, I'm Tubby, and THIS IS MY RING. It's nice to meet you"

I don't care as much about NY connections as others do.

I'm responding to boo's "why is his name never mentioned," and that's why.
