Maybe your right Choz, but its something I heard from someone I trust would not tell me this without some sort of proof.

I feel that sharing it with the community here was the right thing to do.

You don't have to defend yourself. we'd all do the same thing in a similar position.  Thanks for sharing.

I'm sure everyone realizes this, but we will never hear whether we called pitino or donovan. This is all back channels.  Schools don't want to be publicly rejected ala nc state and calipari.
No need to call anyone.......once the word is out and a BIG EAST job is open........mid majors you will have to beat off with an ugly stick.......an bigger fish will have their rep, agent, lawyer etc. contact you if they are open at all.

i dont think greenberg would be done this quick...especially with everything monasch said, it seems like they are going to fish around a bit and really find someone whos proven at the highest level and could recruit as well...while greenberg is a likely candidate i dont think hes such a steal by what we are looking for that we are going to throw a contract at him the day, or even the week, we fire norm...its not like we got a stellar recruiting class waiting on this decision, no offense to ronald roberts

Perhaps, they think they can attract a head coach who can achieve more than one NCAA Tournament in seven years

This is what I was scared of with the coaching search.

People on this site not being realistic about the candidates. Billy Donovan make 3.5 million dollars a year is not coming to Queens NY. I think Dick Weiss just wrote that article to stir the pot.

I love St. John's. I graduated in 88 and the Queens campus has done an amazing tranformation, but it will never be on the same level as the University of Florida. It would be finacially unresponsible for St. John's to pay a coach $3.5 million a year.

Nothing like good gossip early in the morning. There is no reason to rush this decision...most feelers r done via agents.

VaTech AD essentially shouting from the mountaintops that he will do what it takes to keep Greenberg.

pay cut only in base salary. he can make more with NYC media, shows, endorsements, etc.

Who cares what the Va. Tech AD is saying. What else is he supposed to say?  Will come down to what Greenberg wants to do if he is ultimately offered the STJ job.

The only thing any of us should be thanking the lord for is the vacancy in Norm's office.

You've supported that nice person since he got here, but a guy who just finished 10-6 in the ACC is a disaster? Your logic sucks.

Basically saying Greenberg won't be leaving because of money.  I think that matters...no?

That's not what he's saying.  It's lip service.

???  I think its pretty easy to infer from the statements I heard that the AD was saying he would open the coffers to keep him.  Big Greenberg fan?
