Monasch will run the process himself and will not use a search firm or a committee. Hofstra coach Tom Pecora, Virginia Tech coach Seth Greenberg, Louisville coach Rick Pitino, Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt and former St. John's standout Mark Jackson are among the possible candidates.

each coach has taken their hits in their careers and you can say ohh louisville was a bust last year and sucked or ohh greenberg coached a bubble team or hewitt can only recruit and cant coach, but these guys are all great, and we'd be lucky to have any of them...at least we know now that we are going after big fish, so if we get greenberg u can rest assured pitino turned us down, etc etc...and if we get pitino, well, im drinking myself into oblivion for a week to celebrate

Re Pitino:  Does a school ever go after a coach from within their own conference?  Other than Kentucky and Billy D, I can't recall it being done.  It seems disrespectful and would create great animosity if the coach accepted.  That might have been a contributing factor in Donovan turning down the UK job.

when your conference is 16 teams, who cares....louisville isn't even original BE, and they are one of the football schools...I say screw 'em

 we were also told 6 years ago that the next coach would be a homerun. I'll believe we land the big fish when i see it.  I think we are getting Greenberg.
