Even if he can't w/ OUR GUYS, they are all out the door next year anyway.  Next coach gets a clean slate.  That being said, i don't think Fran will have a problem.

He's had a great run at Siena for multiple years.
I can't remember the last time a MAAC coach won that much with any group.

Recently, he's been better than everyone mentioned.
Even Donovan.

Considering how royally screwed up this coaching search has been, if St. John's came away with Fran McCaffery, I'd be happy.  He's been a very good coach at Siena and has recruited well in his time there.

Honestly, I'd rather take a chance on him than hire someone along the lines of Al Skinner or Jim Baron.  Both of them are solid coaches, but we pretty much know what we're getting with them.  At least with McCaffery, we can hope for something better.

Please don't put Skinner and Baron together.  Baron can't even hold Skinner's jock.  Their resumes make it obvious who is better between them.

I agree - McCaffrey would be a very good choice.  If we get Jim Baron, I quit.

1. Lawrence Frank
2. Fran McCaffrey
3. Kevin Willard

I'd look to Brad Stevens or Scott Drew too if you strike out. They'd be excellent choices.

Frank would be the bees knees.  But from all accounts, he has no interest in the college game.  cross him off the list.

I just asked Jeff Goodman he said from what he's heard Frank has no interest. I'm assuming this is what he heard from Zags. Also I don't buy it if we came with a serious offer that would offer him financial security I think he'd have to consider.

McCaffrey the best choice and is smart enough to hire a local AAU guy to help with recruiting. Local kids like Siena's style of running and attacking, a welcome change from SJU's recent propensity to score in the 50s and low 60s. Grab this guy and you will be pleased IMO.

Obviously a great coach but He's a Maryland Alum and I believe is already collecting social security.

Yeah , i know its not realistic. But i do think he had a falling out with the AD last year.  He or Knight are the only guys over 60 i'd even consider if they had any interest.

Knight would be a gimmick...don't want any part of him.

Williams had some trouble with the AD...but she works for him.  He's not going anywhere until he retires.
