Lets give him 3 months to go thru summer tourneys & learn
east coast kids & them get to know about him & staff.

I expect recruiting news on '11 to be light till then

1SF committed for 2010.  Supposedly pretty good and worth holding onto.  Hopefully he gives the new staff a chance.

1 PG committed already for 2011.  He's indicated he would stay on depending if the new coach wanted him.

I wonder if Lamb or Pinkston would be interested now...I know we don't technically have room but even Norm said he would "save" a spot for Pinkston.

Will sure be interesting how a real staff evaluates this group of players, how time is distributed, etc.

That's what I'm really interested in.  I want to see what an unbiased starting lineup looks like in the eyes of an outsider.

Yes, it's only a verbal.  But coaches (especially, in college basketball) have an unwritten rule to not go after a committed player.  Even, moreso amongst conference foes.

If we're going to go big, we might as well go for a stud point guard, that's really the only thing this team would need for next year.  Hopefully Jay Williams is shmoozing and working some magic out in Columbus with the uncommitted at the McDonald's game.

Doug.  Wiggins.

True, Kid....  But, I also think Wiggins was a "lost" kid.  Nevertheless, the majority of college basketball coaches do not go after committed players.  And, even moreso when the said player is committed to a conference foe.

If, Pinkston changes his mind and comes to St. John's....  Great!  Quite frankly, I seriously doubt it.

I agree but just some message board speculation.

Also its been reported that teams have been contacting Ron Roberts all season despite him being signed.  So I don't think its far fetched that coaches contact players that are verballed.

If they landed any of these 4, I'd be shocked and be willing to make a nice donation.

Knight-despite being an excellent student, UK
Joseph-Texas'll be the winning bid
McCallum-tossup, but may actually play for his dad-watch for Donovan
Selby-sharks only club-Calipari, Self, and Pearl

OK, so a couple of verbals, hopefully Lav will be able to seal them if he signs on.

One thing about Lav, when he goes after a kid, he goes hard, and has competed with all the top programs. Of course, recruiting at UCLA is a little easier. Aside from the tradition, kids walk around in shorts on their January campus visits.  ;D

Does Pinkston become realistic if Kimani comes aboard?

Didn't he already sign paperwork?

Also, you know what?  I don't want him.  I'd rather have Doron or keep the team that's on the roster (there are no schollies available), and concentrate on next year.

I have a suggestion for all of the coaches who have a problem with us going after their players:

I suggest they cry it out.
