The title to the actual article has a question mark in it.  It reads: Mike Dunlap to St. John's? I will edit Dave's post so it is not misleading.

I meant to have a question mark in there....It was late. I'm tired I've been working overtime on this coaching search. Anyways lets focus discussion on Dunlap not my title. What do you guys think of him?

It seems Dunlap is well-respected and is a stickler when it comes to his regimen (from reading his practice notes).  I'm sure there are some coaches have a similiar regimen, but all I could say was, "Wow!" 

Hopefully, we get some good news later today that Dunlap has joined the St. John's staff.  This could be a heckuva coup.

Do you know if he has been interviewed yet? If so, when can we expect to hear a yes or no?

this guy seems like a must get. obviously anyone would be an upgrade over Norm "throw it 30 ft into the backcourt on baseline out of bounds plays" Roberts, but this guy has experience at Zona and seems to be responsible for them making tourney runs. plus hes a workaholic, gotta love it. get it done, Lavin

He sounds just like what is needed. A plan, some structure, doing things the smart way.......need that so bad.

I like everything I've read about him.  I LOVE the fact that he tries to instill all these values outside of basketball.  He teaches his kids from Sex Ed to table manners.  He wants consistency and hard work in every aspect of life. 

I think Lavin is a good coach, but he's definitely a better recruiter.  Having an x's and o's guy that can help develop the players and instill toughness and hard work, will payoff handsomely in the end. 

These players are going to have a culture shock very soon when they are presented with geniune winners and the culuture of the program and expectations change drastically!!!

Me too.  I think he was trying to link to Dunlap's bio on the Oregon site, but that doesn't mean anything.  The St. John's site still has all of Norm's staff's bios.

Mike Dunlap was hired by Oregon this time last year not this year in case you made that mistake. 2009 not 2010.

The question is: when are we going to find out whether or not he's willing to come here?
I love everything I read about Dunlap. He should be a head coach somewhere. What a steal this would be.

Interesting quote by Budinger I read in the NY Times article about Dunlap.  He basically said that he really got under the the skin of all the players, but in the end they knew he was in their corner.  LOL looks like we found our "mean coach" right after we hired the nice coach.  It could be great chemistry.
