Man, Rutgers is going to get their clock cleaned in the Big Ten.
What a bunch of ungrateful basterds. At least we have one less BE team from New Jersey.

Its an awesome move for Rutgers financially. They will have so many more resources at their fingertips for football which should aid basketball.

I'm not devastated by this.  We didn't lose any basketball powerhouses, so the BIG EAST will be fine.

Brey had thought this would happen a few weeks ago.
Football is the straw that stirs the drink at so many schools.
It'll be interesting to see how the SEC retaliates.
There were rumors last week about them making a run at several high profile football schools (Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, Clemson), dependent upon the Big Ten's actions.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out........
The Big East needs a strong SJU program!

The Big Ten has no identity anymore.  Who wants to see Rutgers play Missouri?  Heck, who wants to see Rutgers play anyone?  They dropped the ball not picking up Syracuse.  Syracuse has a MUCH larger NYC audience than Rutgers.

Baldi, B10 is offering 2 schools from BE, your title is misleading. They offered 4 bc they know ND might reject, leaving them at 14. If ND accepts, they target a 16th.

Syracuse also has a number of years of crappy football - with the McNabb years their highwater mark - and who's to say the NY part of the Syracuse football audience would come back if they were good?

Rutgers can make some waves in football.  Though in truth, they will be the backside that gets kicked in the Big 10, and do those Florida and Jersey kids want to play in the Big Ten?  You'd hardly get to play close to home.

:) Been suggested that ACC & Big east may come together to form 20 team super conference. G"town,Nova,SJU & ND as only non Foot Ball teams. To be seen if this develops. Hall,Depaul,Marquette & Providence go to Atlantic 10. Reported in Star Ledger last Sunday by Lucci.
