I think in light of what he's been through, he should be left alone.
It's not he's trying to get a head coaching position. He's trying to make rent.

Maybe he can coach Pinkston at a JUCO next season

Isn't he still with New Heights?

From what I've read about New Heights mission, that's not a program you leave unless you really have a chance of doing something good.  The money's nice, but a program affiliated with a non-profit that seems to actually have some academic/ betterment lean (as opposed to "come to the gym, let's play some ball") is pretty cool.

Im talking about college. If this guy was such a great get when he was on St Johns staff, why was it such a big loss when he left? The way some  posters talked about him, you would think he would be a hot commodity.  Not being mentioned as 3rd assistant to Tom Pecora.

3rd assistant to Pecora, from high school, would be pretty "in the game," though.  Major conference, counted on for his recruiting chops but also a sideline coach.  That's not a cool commodity; and you're only hearing the jobs that he's seriously in consideration for (and probably has expressed interest in); perhaps other schools have called or inquired and he said he wasn't interested.

Kimani is certainly on the short list when coaches are looking for a NY coach plugged into the up-and-coming kids.  But not every school wants or needs that.

Dont you think he would have been hired already? And Im not talking about an assistant varsity HS coaching job.

So are you saying for the last 10-15 years, Mo Hicks has not been legit bc he hasn't been offered by a big program?  Kimani is relatively new compared to other guys - Hicks, Naclerio, Tiny, etc. who also do not have college jobs...until now Hicks does.  Gotta put in your time.

Do you mean short list of people to speak about the kids or short list of guys they can hire to try and get an edge...?

You answered your own question. You cant compare Hicks and Young. But I think a big deal was made when Kimani Young didnt return to the staff and I dont see why. IF he was such a hot commodity, he would have been scooped up already with all the new local hirings and coaches trying to get in with the local AAU's.

No, not necessarily. He doesn't have college experience.  Doesn't mean he wasn't a bit of a loss.  If he was here, perhaps St. John's would have gotten Pinkston or Collier.  When he left, Pinkston didn't talk about St. John's very much at all.  That, my friend, is a loss (kind of, assuming he qualifies).

Do you mean short list of people to speak about the kids or short list of guys they can hire to try and get an edge...?
I'm not sure what you're trying to get me to say, PMG!  Schools are always trying to get an edge.  Some want to get an edge with a supposedly NY connected AAU guy (like Book Richardson), others want an assistant coach with more history recruiting the area (like Louisville's Masiello).  Kimani, like Mo Hicks, would be a little more like Book, but he doesn't have the big name yet.  But I believe he had some kids on the New Heights program, and is obviously highly regarded in the city; so either way, he's a guy a school might want to have an in with.

You shouldn't say bad things about Pinkston. It's not like he left NY in favor of a local rival like Philadelphia, or anything.
Maybe in two years, he come here, and back up Polee. If he begs.

Strange topic.

Not sure anyone "hyped" Kimani.  Based on his contacts with players I think he was a loss as an administrative asst.  Just cause Pinkston didn't come here doesn't make Kimani anti-STJ either.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

The guy (Young)  had a pretty shitty year or so.  Starting a thread about his employment, or lack there of, seems a bit distasteful whether stirring the pot or not.  But your getting there Baldi.  Admitting your a shit stirrer is the first step towards being a useful member of society.  ;)
