I'd like to know why former players don't give back to the program.  I mean that in particular financially.  I know that there are a lot more who don't as opposed to those who do.

Lavin said he hopes to have a former player on his staff.  Thats why he is starting with Rico to show its possible.  Hopefully down the road that opportunity will present itself.  In the meantime I'd like to see some of our former players show some love towards the place that extended them a scholarship and in some cases helped them make some serious dough.

Our 3 superstars chose not to support the team last year during that 25th anniversary thing. How come?

Well Mullin went to the dinner but jetted out early for the NBA All Star game.

Jackson was already down there.

Not sure about Berry but pretty obvious they picked the wrong weekend.

Outside of that whole event the players don't give back to the program that made them what they are and thats alarming.

The only player recently who was even up for a position on staff besides Billy Singleton was Terence Mullin. At the time of Norm's hiring he was qualified and was a finalist for a spot. Norm chose to pass because he didn't want to give the appearance of favoring a Catholic league coach over a PSAL coach, as we all know that strategy worked out well for him.

If Doherty had gotten the job instead of Norm, Terence would have been one of his first hires.

Looking back, I can't say Joe Lapchick or Louie used many former players. Of course, Louie was Joe's assistant coach. Before him, Joe never had an assistant! Louie had "Butch" Kresse here and at the Nets, but he never had a big staff either. I know Louie kept in touch with former players and they in turn did a certain amount of unofficial scouting. Jarvi$ cut his ties with the players and I am unaware of how much Norm repaired that riff. I do know that the players themselves keep in touch with each other, so they're out there if Lavin wants to use them.
