I could be wrong, but I honestly believe De la Rosa is a kid the prior staff went after.

There maybe some leftover recruits from the prior staff but hopefully it gets washed out after the summer tourneys and udpates.  I think he's a guy they are keeping an eye on.  No idea how much interest.   Also he transferred out of St. Raymond's to Impact Academy in Las Vegas last year.

Famous looked decent for South Florida.

Famous averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds last season for a better team.

The guy averaged 10 and 7.  He looked decent when I saw him.  Far from horrible.

I'm with KOB on this one.  I saw Famous a number of times in JC at WCC and wasn't impressed.  The only three games last year I can say I really paid close attention was when we played them and blew them out.  He had 3 points and 6 rebounds in 28 minutes.  And then in the BE tournament when 6 and 8 and 7 and 4 against DePaul and Gtown.
Remember who broke the Slice news

I'd rather we stay away from players with names that sound like they could on MTV's " Jersey Shore "

Joey De La Rosa ’11 - Montverde Academy (FL) – Throughout the camp, Joey’s progress and defense have earned him respect. He showed it off this week as he went toe to toe with some of the best including Derrick Randall and Kamari Murphy. De La Rosa is seeing big dividends in his recruitment. “St. John’s, Pittsburgh, Georgeotown, Providence, Arkansas and UNLV.” The once standout at St. Raymond’s in the Bronx wasn’t a good one. After departing, Joey headed to Las Vegas where he attended Impact Academy. Now, at Montverde (FL), De La Rosa looks to improve his skills and watch his recruiting game turn up to the next level. Joey also plans to take his recruitment slow and hopefully cut down his list by January or February. After that, Joey thinks he will be able to make the right decision.

With St. John's making the list, it is no question why they would be a good fit for Dela Rosa. "It is near my home in New York. They are very close," he said. "I like the new coaching staff. They reached out me about a month ago and I think they are doing some good things there," stated Dela Rosa.

It sounds like a great fit and the perfect fairytale. Dela Rosa, who once played ball in New York, left for other ventures far away. Later on, he comes back to help the Red Storm get to the tournament. It certainly sounds good, but as of now, it's just a possibility. Dela Rosa says that he is wide open and will not cut his list down until "January or February" and will possibly commit in "February or March." As of now, he just wants to work on his game and be the best he can be.

Famous averaged 10.4 points and 7.5 rebounds in the same Big East Conference. ANy of the St Johns bigs come remotely close to that?
