Seat Selection Recap

Some quick notes...

Great presentation by St. John's. Everything was ready prior to the start, the event was catered, and an overwhelming amount of staff present to help.

Coaches were all widely available. They didn't wait for people to walk up to them as they went out and sought out people and introduced themselves.

Chiles and Rico are cool dudes. Seriously they are some duo together they really feed off each other quite well.

Dunlap is soft spoken, nice, friendly, but he scared me a bit ha! Seriously I can see him just chewing dudes up and spitting them out in a good way.

Lavin is one smooth operator. He's cool, engaging, and very trendy. Seriously dude had some pretty nice jeans and shoes on.

They really are sharp guys and they all seem to have a great understanding of recruiting as well as teaching. Its amazing the difference between staffs its not even funny.

I really enjoyed the company of all the season ticket holders I was able to meet and talk with. I gave out a bunch of free shirts so hopefully everyone wears them to all the games. I'll be looking out for you, I know where you're sitting!

I have a bunch of pics and I'll upload them in just a few.

Great to hear!! I've been away all summer and this is my first post back.  I've tried to stay caught up with as much SJU news and recruiting as possible.  Future looking bright.  Dave, how many people showed up??

There was about 30 or so people that showed up. I think more notice on the event would have helped the cause but live and learn. I do know there is 200+ more season ticket sales than last season and its not even September yet.

The games will sell out if the students have any self respect at all.

They need to seriously pick up the pace..
No game should be empty with 9 seniors and a first class head coach.

Student section was filled last season. The rest of the arena wasn't. Students aren't to blame.

What time did the coaches get there? I got there around 4 and left around 5. I got great garden seats. But my seats at Alumni Hall kind of suck. According to SJU all the seats in the lower level are sold out and have been for a while.  I did get to high five the mascot, but I would have lked to meet the coaches.

They showed up around 5ish. We were hanging out by the team bench side of the seating area.

My big thing with CA was we spent $5 million or whatever renovating why didn't they invest another $250k and get folding seats everywhere? Then the seats you say that suck would be great seats.

Dave, poison has a point.  Don't tell me "the students did their part" because they filled the tiny little student section st johns allotted to them.  How many students was that, a couple hundred.  Student attendance has been an absolute joke this decade, and MORE students need to show up, just like Poison said.

There should be more students than in the student section, for sure.  How much are tickets for Carnesecca Arena games?

Do you meen Moe Hicks ?
(it would be an unusual time for a recruit to be on campus for an unofficial, even if allowed)

It would be nice to hear Hicks thoughts on the 2 year rule (without discussing specific recruits )

Hicks wasn't there, from what I heard.  But both players were there.  Confirmed also by other reports.  Lots of official and unofficial visits are happening through August.

Student season tickets are only 100 dollars this year and i heard your basically just paying for the MSG games. I heard CA games will be free this year or they are free for season ticket holders. Hopefully the students will come out

the student section during CA games were usually filled, but the garden games had barely any students. usually about 2 rows of kids. that is what needs to change. although, stj didnt do the student section a favor by splitting the student section on either side of the court [although if we could fill both sides it would be a different story]

Harkless is scheduled for an unofficial on Sept 2 per post on his thread.

What's the diff between an "unofficial" & showing up on campus like yesterday ?
we know local kids show up on campus all the time.
Are the "coach contact" rules different ?
(from 8/2/10 to 9/6/10 is a "quiet period")
