There is definitely more of a buzz than in years past but I wouldn't place any correlation whatsoever with the crowd tomorrow and how hyped people are for the actual season.  The tip-off event always draws a few thousand students.  Tomorrow is more of a party than a true basketball event with a DJ and games, prizes, performances, pizza, etc.  and many people who will go tomorrow will never pay the money to go to a basketball game during the season. The true test of student support will come that first game in November against Columbia and I am still skeptical as to if students are actually buying into the team just yet.  Bottom line is win and the support will follow, kids don't want to waste their money on going to these games if the team stinks no matter who the head coach is.

If these kids aren't hyped up enough after what Lavin has already done, then they are the most pathetic student body in the nation.

At least they'd be #1 at something.

Every seat should be filled. It's f'n free, so even the cryers who claim $10 for a ticket is a lot of money can afford it.

The only thing that might hurt attendance is the Yankee game. Still, SJU has no excuse not to have a full house in that tiny stadium.

It will be filled, just like the tip-off event always is.

Many students don't follow recruiting. The event will have students as will the first game. The key is winning. Everyone backs a winner.
