At first glance, Steve Lavin may seem out of place in New York.
But don't be fooled. St. John's new basketball coach, despite being from the Left Coast, has already immersed himself in the local basketball community, so much so that casual fans are taking notice. Just recently, while Lavin was leaving the Old Homestead Steakhouse in Chelsea, a taxi driver rolled down his window to offer encouragement. At the same time, his passenger was quick to roll down the window and ask how the team might do this season.
