What does Dele Coker need to do?

To get more PT?

He consistently hits shots and alter shots when he is in the game. Lets not say fouls either because he has 1 PF all season.

I agree he should get so more PT because we need an inside presence but he should be shooting from the free throw line and in only. A few of those shots today he should not have taken. What do we have to lose in seeing him play? he cant be any worse than Burrell and Evans. I like a lineup of Boothe, Hardy, Horne, Brownlee and Coker.

Coker has a nice deep jumper. I had no problem with him taking those shots, except he could have waited until another players was near to rebound. He hurried the last jumper in the first half if I remember correctly. Looked a little better on the boards.

I'd start Coker against Fordham. Obviously Lavin wanted to see how Sean Evans would react to more pt, and unfortunately for him, he reacted very poorly.

I feel bad for Evans & Burrell. It's not because they aren't trying. The refinement just isn't there.

Coker, in all fairness, played well. Not amazing, but he deserves more pt. He must really struggle in practice.

Have more talent? He hit one shot then took two horrendous shots in a row.

Coker played significantly better than Evans and Burrell. For that, at least this Sat he should get some of their minutes

Other than that he missed them, what was horrendous about them? Or at least more horrendous than what the rest of the team did. He's a 60 percent shooter from the floor who was left open on or about the foul line.

I guess not paying attention like some of the basketball gurus on these sites to the warm up line and scrimages where evidently Coker is the second coming of Bob McAdoo, I do not want a 6-10 stiff taking 15 foot jumpers. Going on 4 years and two different coaches Coker is who he is, not a good D 1 basketball player.

Oh dear, someone's cranky this morning. I don't recall anyone mentioning Bob Mcadoo. Saying he's better than Sean Evans is hardly the same thing. Coker's shot 60 percent from the floor over the past two years (63 last year), albeit in limited minutes. By way of comparison, Larry Wright shot 43 percent and 36 percent from the floor in his two years at SJ. You have a picture of the latter under your pillow, whereas the former's a stiff.

Somebody compared him to Willis Reed on the other site and for some reason people, Dave and I think Moose in particular have delusions of grandeur about his game. Hey I was wrong about Brownlee, thought he was a stiff but he has a nice little game. In Coker's case if getting him more minutes is something we are worrying about then we are in real trouble. I say let Burrell play 25 minutes a game. He at least has a track record of being succesful in the BE even if it was 3 years ago.

I don't think he's Willis Reed, although in fairness to whoever made that comparison there was someone who compared Burrell to Carmelo Anthony, so the comparison is at least less demented than that. I'd counsel giving Coker minutes as well, because why not. Burrell regresses from game to game. In addition to refusing to rebound or play defense or attack the basket, he's now turned himself into a 35 percent free throw shooter, down from 75 percent as a freshman. By February he might well be wearing diapers. It's sad, but it is what it is.

I think I remember seeing a post about Coker being similiar to Reed and someone talking about Burrell could be similiar to Carmelo a few years ago.  LOL

Some folk need to get a visit from the "piss man."

In just under 17 minutes a game he is averaging 5 and a half boards. I would start him and give him 25 minutes a game for the next three games. If he does not produce then I would go in another direction. I would give it one last shot to salvage his college career becuase just based on his frosh season and his boardwork this season he still has the biggest upside of any of the bigs.
