Time to give him some credit

Congrats to him.  His team never quit or gave up.

From our perspective, our season is over.  Something is wrong, this team hasnt responed to the new staff plus a host of other factors.  After losing to St. Bonnies, you would figure they would respond.  INstead they lose to a team that won 2 games last year.  Two seperate 16-0 runs in the second half.  THis is the worst St. John's loss i can remember in 12-13 yrs.

the only positive...a good thing the kids are already signed for next year.

They played very well I wish them luck. I like there team, they are going to surprise more teams like they did tonight. We played great in stretches and indescribably bad in stretches. Overall this is a disgusting loss with all due respect to Fordham. I can't wait for next year to come, these guys are giving me a heart attack. The seniors said they wanted to make the post season too bad it will be the CBI.

There's nothing wrong. This is just a result of being coached by Norm Roberts for 3 years. He tarnished any ability these players have by creating a losing mentality. These players just have no idea what it takes to WIN or CLOSE OUT basketball games.

This group isn't good enough to press for 40 mins.
We gave up two 16 to 0 runs in the 2nd half I believe.
Makes me sick.  I have no clue how this team finishes 500 in the Big East this season

I thought the press/trap is effective, but it seems to have taken away this group's biggest strength, which was their half court defense. If we don't make the steal, we're screwed.

Whatever zone we're in seems to lead to WIDE OPEN 3 pointers. And when we try to go to man-to-man down the stretch, our players legs are too tired from pressing all game and we get beat easy off the bounce.

Back-to-back losses as a 14+ favorite.
That's staggering to pull off (statistically).

WRT Pecora, I didn't like his postgame "God was on our side" remark, but congratulations on the win.

There's nothing wrong?  oh ok this is Norm ROberts fault...i forgot.  Well what should we say abt Fordham then when they won two games last year.  Is Pecora John Wooden then?  WHat would that make Lavin?  YOur logic is faulty...

BTW we beat both Fordham and St. Bonnies last year.  Two things are for sure something is wrong and this season is over.

I like the press but let's mix it up!  I don't care what team we are playing you give them the same look for 40 mins.  They will start to pick you apart.

They wont win more than 2 games in the Big East playing like this. This season will turn Lavins hair grey and take years off his life. Look at our first 6 BE games. @ WVU, @PC, G'town, @ND, 'Cuse, and ND. We will be 0-6 if we dont start finding a little consistency.

I allmost think Lavin is forcing his style on this group of kids.
Which is fine for the future but terrible for this season.

It's called sarcasm...clearly there are problems but I still think it all comes down to the players.

Lavin's coaching held an NBA prospect from St  Bonnies in check until the last 4 mins of the game. Lavin's coaching got us a 20 point lead in the 2nd half of this game. In my opinion, these players just don't have the killer instinct or know what it takes to close out games.

It happened last year with Norm and its happening already this season...

In my opinion you cant take bits and pieces of the game that are positive and credit Lavin, but then at the same time all the bits and pieces that are negative and dump them on the players ability or lack thereof.  THere is fault b/t everyone involved in the program for the last 4 halfs, 80 mins or two games.

I agree. But they made that decision at the beginning of the year to have the players adapt to his style. If he wanted to win more games this year, he probably should have just coached to the players strengths.

But honestly, his style of play won us the game vs Arizona State. It kept us close against St Marys. And it gave us a seemingly insurmountable lead in this game.

Those are good points.  And I agree with what he is doing.
Man I can't even type after this game.  I'm lost for words.
I know people are saying we can't expect anything from this group.
But dam I don't care how bad we are we should NEVER drop games to these teams.
Norm's kids or not.

Fordam stormed the court tonight.  That's a tough to take

That's fair. I just think that a coach can only do so much from the sidelines. In the end, it comes down to execution and I just think these players have been on the wrong side too many times in their careers. They just don't seem to have what it takes to close out games.

In fairness to the players, I can blame Lavin for plenty of things as well. Why doesn't he switch up the defenses? Fordham figured out the press and by the time we switched it was too late. Why does he decide to play Boothe for the first time after sitting around the entire first 3/4 of the game? Why does he ever play Boothe and Stith together? Why do we stop attacking when Fordham's 2 best players are in foul trouble?

Of course there are things Lavin can do better, but to me it comes down to being embarassed as a St John's fan for the past decade. And for the past 4 years, when I see the same faces on the court loss after loss, I have to accept that theyre the reason we're not winning games.

Yea, watching them storm the court made me sick. But all you keep hearing from the PLAYERS is that they want to go out dancing. There comes a point in time where they need to take it upon themselves to make that happen. Lavin doesn't owe these players anything. He says he wants to help them reach their goal of making the tourney, but in reality he's counting the days til graduation..

I'm done with this years team.  I made a huge effort to be at tonights game, and I rushed over to Rose Hill after work tonight when I got a last minute ticket from someone.  This is by far the worse loss I've ever been at in regards to any of the teams I support.

This was the last game I will attend this year, unless this team can prove some things; and none of those things have to do with talent or ability.  I am just so disgusted its indescribable.

Maybe tomorrow or in a few days I can better write down what I felt happened.  I am just so angry right now.

Just got back from game. That was a great atmosphere, the fans were loud and the students were great.

Once Fordham figured out the press, they got a ton of open looks and hit the shots. Lavin needs to make adjustments. Fordham held Hardy in check in the 2nd half

Why was Boothe benched in the 1st half? Probably should have left him on the bench, he was brutal

Commentators mentioned that he has hamstring issues and the staff wanted to limit his minutes.
