Exciting Times

Don't get me wrong, I'm as bummed as anyone about the two losses.  I thought we'd be NCAA bound if we had some breaks go our way.  The loss to the Bonnies pretty much closed the deal on that and the loss to Fordham probably cemented it.  Who cares?

We have an absurd recruiting class coming in next year.  In fact, if you divided it in two it would be two absurd recruiting classes.  The outcome might not look different but just look at our assist and turnover categories.  It's night and day from last year.  These kids are learning a new system and they are not quite there yet.  I still think they hit a good streak in January/February and make a little bit of a run at it.

Does the staff deserve some heat for the letdowns?  Sure, but what more can you do as a staff but prepare your kids to get a 21 pt lead.  I felt like they played Wagner and the Bonnies not to lose instead of win.  Against Fordham, the staff probably wanted to be more proactive.  They just didn't hit their foul shots or open fg's.

I'd like to see these guys go out and fight, continue to learn the system, win some games, and for Polee and Stith to gain experience.  Hopefully the fans will keep showing up and supporting this team, because those that don't are just front runners.

Polee needs to get more time. If these seniors havent grasped the new system yet, than when will they?  Kennedy would be a nice 6th man

I'm taking the same approach to this season, Marillac.  Regardless of how this senior class finishes up their career, the future is much brighter than it has been in some time.  We've waited this long, whats another few months?   It will be interesting to watch and see if these guys buy into the system and how long it will take.

If nothing else, this new system and brand of basketball, is much more exciting to watch.

I agree about next years excitement....my question to the seniors....what do you want to be remember for? This is there chance to make something big happen before they leave and they are not taking advantage of this opportunity.

We know they'd like to go out as winners. I hope they do. They need to go on a run. It's the only thing that can save this season.

What happens when the run includes WV & GTown? Is it over? Probably.

We'll see Monday. Can they put a team
away for good? They need to pour it on, and focus on continuing to play hard, and take smarter shots. Why didn't DJ go to Burrell? He was scoring at will. Why didn't they think to try anything that would get Hardy open? He had 30 points.

If he's scoring like that, he might need to take more than 18 shots. He was 12-12 from inside the arc. Come on guys, get him open. Make it your mission.

Great post Poison! Besides Hardy, I think Burrell had the best game for the Johnnies(probably doesnt show in boxscore).  Kennedy has no confidence in his game at this point for whatever reason and needs to come off the bench. Boothe is completely useless imo, he scares nobody-except St Johns fans. Start Horne,Hardy,Brownlee,Burrell and Coker
