How i really feel is that I will personally buy those seats to make sure the students don't come anymore.

Now they won't come. Next year they can't come. No pride = no self respect

The only time I even noticed the 10-20 punks that showed is when they booed Cobb after he finally got up.

I can't tell if you are just trolling or not, but you are bashing the people that do show up, bashing the people that don't show up.  Were you at the game?  The place was more quiet than a library on the few possessions when there was no cheering by the students.  No need for the personal attacks dude, it's winter break a lot of us students aren't even in the area and with the games starting so late it's hard to get to games.  Students will never show up at games against mid-level competition to a tourney with no buzz mere days from Christmas during winter break at any school.  As for the booing the player when he got up, yea that was out of line but I hope the kids booing were doing it more in the direction of the ref for even calling a foul, let alone an intentional foul when he clearly got all ball.  And we have every right to sit in a student section and enjoy ourselves with the amount of money we pay to go to school here, so hop off you clown.

I've been going to games for 30 years, and let me tell you from experience St.John's fans are amongst the least loyal out there.

And this crop of students is no different.

You'd think 2,000 with the fan support.

You guys, collectively, not individually, totally suck. There are 25 rows of empty seats behind you, and my only point is that if you're not going to use them, then perhaps its time to hop off.

Here is the thing.  The students seats are spread out amongst the 4 sections behind each hoop and those other seats in the section are sold.  I had to buy a ticket for someone yesterday and someone gave me a voucher for 5 dollar tickets and I didn't show my student ID or anything and the best available seat was in row M of section 12 which is where all the students were so the seats behind the standing students aren't even student seats.  Idk what the ticket office is thinking with having the students spread out but they really need to get some student input on where they put us for games.

When I was there - which was the Monty/Geno era and the first year of this current group of seniors - there was just no school pride on campus. But I guess that's what you're going to get with any commuter school unless they're competing for a national championship. A very small percentage of people cared whether they won and an even smaller percentage cared about going to games.

I think a lot of it is just culture/being the 'cool' thing to do on campus. Even when Texas football is terrible (like this year), the students will show up because it's a social event - it's the thing you do on campus. That's clearly not the case at St. John's right now and I doubt it will be unless they're competing for national titles again.

And btw, Northwestern is a large, wealthy high major opponent.

I could see the students thinking Northwestern is a mid major, because they probably had no idea that they were undefeated.

But really, if you're a fan, and it's your school, there should be enough support that the place isn't glaringly empty.

Want more respect? Find a way in. Your strength is in numbers. Organize something.

Look at Pittsburgh.

And btw, Northwestern is a large, wealthy high major opponent.

Northwestern has never made the NCAA tourney in their history and are full of white guys noone has heard of who shoot threes.   They are a bubble NCAA team who we have no history with, why would anybody want to see Northwestern?

im a freshman i couldnt make it to these 2 games  but i try to make it to all the games i can its an awesome experience i try to get people to go too but its hard when the school is a commuter school and there are other things to do in the city rather than a non urban campus like notre dame where a game is one of the few things to do it pains me to not have a packed house of st johns fans im not saying games are the only things i do obviously not but i agree it would be nice to have more students come and they will come more next year for sure and hopefully this year when they start winning... i do know however a lot of students are going for the duke game

St. John's fan support in general is pretty poor and the students are the same way. Once they start winning they will come out but right now they just aren't. There will always be a set of loyal fans that will come to every game students included but the winning will bring those fringe fans back to the Garden. It is also winter break so the students who live on campus are gone and I can't speak for other commuter students but for me I work during the breaks. I would have liked to have gone to these games but I was working both days.

Ya know what, there's a helluva lot to in Washington, but GW students go to games. There is a lot to do in Boston, and it really feels like low level mid majors like BU have passionate students.

I don't buy that there is so much to do in NY if you're not 21. There really isn't much that most college students can afford in ny.

why would anybody want to see Northwestern?

1) Conference alliance.  Big 10 considered the one conference on par if not better than the BE.

2) Curiosity to see the school where our very own Timmy Doyle became a big star.

It's Winter Break. Most students have gone home for Christmas. I drove 3 hours from upstate to get to the game. The student section is always the loudest so why are you complaining? We'll get a larger student section as we continue to win.
