City Boys on the Country Roads [Calm Before the Storm]
« on: December 27, 2010, 11:02:10 PM »
...The seniors should be looking for some measure of revenge against a weaker Mountaineer squad. Weaker than last year’s, at least. The Red Storm bring in the same squad that was crushed in the second half, hoping to find a new result with a new coach.

On top of that, Wednesday’s game starts a grueling stretch of conference games – they start at West Virginia, go to an improved Providence, play at home against Georgetown, who look ready to compete at the top of the conference, at sharpshooting Notre Dame, and home to Syracuse before welcoming the Fighting Irish to New York. That is one rough stretch of conference play. The Red Storm can show the league that they aren’t the previous coaching staff’s Red Storm....

I expect a loss, but I can't wait for some Big East basketball!

It's imperative that we somehow manage to keep our chins up during this brutal opening stretch of the BE season in which we're likely to have a below, if not way below, .500 record for a while.

As fate would have it, the bulk of the "winnable" games on our conference schedule don't come until Feb. and March.

I witnessed first hand last season how shockingly quick our guys were able to turn a large lead into a big deficit against Huggy.  I've never seen anything like it and won't soon forget it.

Carmine- tired of that attitude. We are paying our coaches MILLIONS! They better get our boys ready. No more excuses. Lets go Coach Lavin and Dunlap! We can't be less then 2-1 this week.

i sat through that second half last year with disgust and with an appreciation for Butler.  I thought his performance against us was one of the best I had seen and Ebanks was a windex man the way he cleaned the glass.  these two probably scored at least 60% of the points between them.  Hopefully they are dearly missed this time around and we can squeak by in a very close one.  Keeping the 2 JB's out of foul trouble and weakside rebounding by Kennedy would be keys for us.  Afew 3's from Hardy would be helpful.  It will take a total team effort but we can "climb the mountain".

We can't be less then 2-1 this week.

Now that would be a real "Miracle on 34th St."  At least it's the right season for it.

This first one looks impossible to me but I do admire your guys spirit.

I saw Casey Mitchell earlier this year.  He is much improved.  Road woes continue...

SJU- 69
WVU- 66

Does anyone really know which team is going to show up? I'm betting on the team that whooped N'Western but who knows. WVU is not as good as they have been the last few years but they still are a talented group that should makes the NCAAs, this would be a huge road win.

I see us losing this game but I'm hoping for a competitive game.  It's hard to have confidence in a team who has been so bad on the road in recent years.  If we can play like we did in the second half of the Northwestern game we have a chance but we need a couple guys to get hot and stay hot.
