he West Virginia University Coliseum is one of the toughest places to play in the Big East and the Mountaineers almost never lose on their home court. It's a place where teams usually come to die.

The St. John's basketball program may have been re-born there Wednesday night.

The Red Storm played a great game from wire-to-wire and posted a 81-71 upset win over heavily-favored West Virginia in their conference opener. This time there were no offensive droughts or blown leads, just a team playing a great brand of team basketball and repelling every challenge that the Mountaineers, a Final Four team last year, could mount.
