St. John's beats Providence on Horne's key plays [NY Daily News]

Paris Horne started 63 of 66 games the last two seasons for St. John's, but the senior has found himself in a very different role this year. He is the sixth man. And Saturday night he proved it's not who starts, but who finishes the games.

Horne made two huge plays in the final 30 seconds against Providence to help lift the Red Storm to a 67-65 Big East victory before 8,157 at Dunkin' Donuts Center.

The 6-3 swingman drained a three-pointer with 28 seconds left on the game clock and :03 on the shot clock to break a 62-62 tie. On the ensuing possession he took a charge on Marchon Brooks.

Which play was he more proud of? "Even thought I hit the three we needed the stop," Horne said. "We could have easily given up three and it would have been tied. It's got to be taking that charge."

"Looking at their eyes and body language, you got a sense as a group they had confidence they'd find a way to get a win," he said. "There was such a difference from when we were out at St. Mary's to open the season and (they) had made a run to pull ahead of us after we'd led. (Then) I didn't sense this was a team that believed they could come back and win. Tonight inside of four minutes, what I noticed was a group that was very poised and confident."
