worst played game of the lavin era
« on: January 22, 2011, 06:06:35 PM »
offense was terrible in the first half and bad in the second. cincy got to lose balls and gave us no second chances. shoot worse than 50% from the line and missed countless front ends.

only positive was the defense but why the hell did lavin stay in the press so long they were tearing it apart
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Hardy threw the game away. It's time to put him back at natural position.

Look no further than the 12-26 from the line.  THe Hardy miss was a killer at the end there, especially considering his %.

During the 1st half run by Cinci to end the half....why in the hell did Lavin have Boothe, Stith, Kennedy, Polee and Evans on the floor.  That was the line up for a good 2-3 minute stretch!!  Terrible decision on his part.

But the loss is on the kids.  FT's were horrible tonight.  We are NIT bound now!!

Boothe & Stith should NEVER be on the floor at the same time.

46% from FT line, they didn't deserve to win today.

This loss is on the players, the coaches are not the ones shooting free throws.

I would have the entire team in Taffner tonight to shoot 500 free throws each.

Fordham has an RPI in the 240s.
Blowing a 20 point lead against them'll have to be the low point.

It's a shame that something as fundamental as FT shooting helped cost a winnable game.

Ive been saying this for weeks. Gotta go deep into the Big East tourny now to make anything of this season

I'd go one further, pmg.  Should NEVER be on the floor period.

No we could lose by 25 with him at the 2 also. He disappeared in Big East play

It's true. I love how Hardy plays against garbage. Tore it up in the Bronx. He was throwing passes to Scoop Jardine at MSG and throwing up airballs at Louisville. He needs to toughen up.

But seriously, can't blame one guy when the team misses 14 of 26 free throws. That's just pathetic.

Agree on Stith and Boothe playing simultaneously.

At one point I'm sitting there amazed to see only one player out there on the court that I would want to take a shot.

Playing Stith and Boothe at the same time, makes us so weak on the offensive end.  They are two small guards who cant score and only move, is to try to penetrate the defense with a kick out or face getting the ball swatted into the upper deck.  Now if the other team is playing a zone, and you want these guys in, well than you need to have Hardy/Horne/DJ(2 of 3)on the floor with them and possibly Burrell.  Because they can penetrate the zone and kick out and have our shooters on the wing.  Burrell draws double teams now and he also can kick the ball out.  Stithe and boothe are also ball hogs especially when we are pressing.  Obviously with a lineup like I just mentioned, you only have one big out on the floor so we would get killed on the boards and on defense inside the paint but steal a few baskets from threes and steels and that would be ok with me. With this team, it is almost impossible to get consistent play night in and night out so I feel Lavin is doing whatever he can to just steal some baskets in little time segments.   A 5-6 minute lineup like this is not totally bad depending on other teams defense and how we are shooting.  If both the defense turns to man and we are not shooting, this combination would never work.
