Awesome win, great game plan and great game for the players. When we play at our best and play with intensity we can play with anyone in the nation. Im really proud of our staff and these players they deserve this win. I' m proud to be an SJU fan today and I hope we can carry this momentum into the rest of our games because we just got our signature win which will go a long way in helping our NCAA chances.

You can't script this stuff.  What a game and what an a$$kicking!!! 

Great to see Sean Evans play well.  At least he'll be able to look back at atleast ONE game where he made a huge influence (on hopefully a Tourny-bound team).  Our guys played smart offensively.  When we were overplayed off the ball, our guys made great back cuts to the rim, when we were guarded too tight one on one we went off the bounce to the rim and when they pressed us we always looked for the next pass ahead and the next pass towards the rim.  Just a brilliantly played game offensively. 

Their awful outside shooting certainly helped our cause, but, hey, I'm not willing to apologize to them for that!! lol.

Does anyone know who made the decision to interview Sean after the game--was it a CBS decision or did coach bring him in to show him love for his efoorts and to hopefully build for the remainder of the season?

Honestly wasn't expecting this win the way we've gotten blown out of recent games...I will definitely take it though!!!!!! LOVIN IT! Gotta be on our toes for Rutgers though.  They gave Pitt a run for their money yesterday and Mike Rice has them playing well.  This is definitely no gimme.  Nonetheless, WE BEAT #3 TODAY!!!!

Lavin took Brownlee and Burrell into the media room.
Monasch was rightfully beaming but respectful.


I would think that almost anyone who's on here is a die-hard.
After the game, I saw some of the first-year students celebrating and I hope they enjoyed it, but I was really pleased for the players, coaches, boosters, and long-time season ticket-holders. This one was for the students, alumni, and fans who supported the program when it wasn't easy. Hopefully, the win helps with recruiting and encourages some casual fans to continue to come to games.

Did anyone get a good look at the security guards trying to grab the students and in most cases, missing?

I wonder if Dolan tells them to do that just because he's Dolan.

- What was the ratio of red to blue fans at the game?

- Was msg security really trying to prevent students from rushing the court?  The ridiculously unwarrented, remove all metal objects, airport like security at Alumni and the overly invasive security at Msg is just sad.  Our entire security procedure at both venues needs to be re-evaluated and overhauled.

- I guess our players are not exactly household names to fans and media alike.  The old announcer 3 or 4 times called DJ Polee in the 1st half.  Polee is taller, dark skinned and stick thin while DJ is thicker, light skinned and has a million tats?  They look nothing alike.  He also mistook Brownlee for Burrell as did at least two news services including the full page photo caption in Newsday which praised Burrell for his 20 point, 9 rebount and 6 assist effort? 

- Count 'em 21 assists and most not from point guards.  Kudos to JB2 and Hilton for a way above average 6 each.  JB2's all-around stat filling day as mentioned above was massive.

- Shout out to Sean Evans for rising from the ashes for a 5 for 5 breakout effort.  I just wish there could be some middle ground for our bench players between starting (Dele) and significant minutes (Malik III) to zero minutes as Sean had been getting and Dele and Malik III are now getting.  I feel even 2 or 3 minutes a game can go a long way in keeping a player engaged, on board and somewhat confident.

- Polee vault looks tentative and somehow needs a return to the confidence level he displayed in the season opener in Cali.  He's reluctant to dribble, drive or shoot at this point.

- My favorite play of the day was the long one handed bounce pass by D-buckets into the lane to JB2 for the tomahalk jam.

- My favorite comic scenario of the game was watching the large, slow, white boys trying to apply full-court pressure against us.   Puke is not built for playing from behind.  Fortunately for them, they usually don't have to.

- Perfect spot to have our breakout game on CBS on a slow sports weekend.  The positive pub from this smack down was seen and heard far and wide.  Regardless of the outcome of this season.  Nobody could deny that we're a rising star under Hollywood.   

- Sadly, I did not attend our biggest win since 2003 which is probably why we got our biggest win since 2003.  I've been the kiss of death this year when I go.  Your welcome.

I dont think Duke had an open 3, we were in their face and most shots were contested. Smith showed that in his frustration

Nice Win!!! Could not believe the score we were up by 21. If we can't start rolling after this win then we don't deserve to make the NCAA Turny.

i saw something in one of the espn articles saying it was 60/40 stj to duke fans, but that was definitely wrong.  id say at best it was 40 stj to duke 60%. probably 35/65 stj to duke.

as for msg security. they lined up about 15 to 20 ushers/security along the court on the pep band side, and no one got through. the other side was able to get through.

it was ridiculous  there were countless people on the ground. the security guards were pushing people over.

Thanks.  Based on your numbers that's about 7/8k SJU fans.  Our fans are starting to come back nicely.  Would love to get 5k+ against Rutgers but due to a Wed. 9pm start I'd guess 4k.

I have one more question about the game.  It's not an Ncaa violation to have well-heeled boosters sitting on the bench?

I don't know the percentage of red to non-red clothing, but I don't think that Duke fans outnumbered us.  From the very beginning of the game, SJU fans were much louder that those cheering for Duke.  Then again, maybe they just had nothing to cheer about from the very beginning of the game.

A friend of mine from duke who is originally from WV, told me those are the only 2 games he's watched of us, and based on them, doesn't know how we aren't the best team in the country.  Its about consistency, but it does show we can beat anyone at any time.

Kid, actually I think if anything it showed a lack of leadership and an inability to run the offense-something he'll have to do if he's going to even sniff the NBA.

Racking up 32 points, most of which came in garbage time impresses about as much as when Kennedy dropped 32 on RU in NJ last year.

You were there, so you should know better. The box score doesn't tell the story. He was tearing it up with 8 minutes to go and his team down 23.

  Nolan is having a great year and will be in the discussion, no doubt.  He won't win though.  Sullinger and Fredette ( sp)  are the clear leaders.  The st. john's game proved that he can score in bunches when they are getting destroyed.  Lot easier to rain threes when you are losing by 25,  it just is.  Plus, he was acting like a punk at the end of the game. Getting chippy with guys, etc.   He's not the player of the year.  Best on Duke?  maybe with Irving out. I suspect, like most Duke players, it will translate to 2-3 minutes a night in the NBA.  so, congrats on that, i guess.
