Again wow. He is very deserving of the award this week also. He had a great game in that big road win against Marquette and obviously won the game for us against the best team in the conference yesterday. I am of obviously partial to Hardy but I think he is the Big East POY.

Nice third time...let's hope he gets one more after we beat Nova and maybe he'll get some votes for BE POY

I remember when Showtime was in his prime and great and couldn't even get a sniff for 3rd team all-BE on a horrendous team.

If I was a high school kid, and I wore basketball jerseys, I'd wear a #12.

Well deserved.  I don't know how to attach a link but on the University's Red Storm Sports they have Minko's radio call on the shot.  Not having heard because in the Garden, it is worth listening to, especially Tarik Turner's comment in the background.  after Minko calls the play you hear Tarik saying "Are you serious".  (the audio gives me a great feeling--the beauty of the spoken word versus the picture.) That sums up an amazing play and why Dwight deserves this honor.  He is always a humble appearing person--I am glad he is getting his props.

3 in a row?

Here's an ESPN article on his POY chances...

Dwight Hardy: When Lavin told me last week that he thought Hardy ought to win Big East Player of the Year, I admit I thought he was insane.

So now either I’m equally insane or he was right.

As Connecticut and Kemba Walker fade down the stretch, Hardy keeps coming. On the heels of his buzzer-beating, circus-shot winner against Pittsburgh, Hardy dumped 34 points on Villanova. Since the signature win against Duke, as St. John's has mounted its charge and built its case for a high seed, Hardy is averaging 25 points per game.

Without him, St. John’s is the same old St. John’s. An OK team in the middle of the Big East pack. With him, the Red Storm are looking to lock up a double-bye and surge into the tourney where they will have a decided home-court advantage.

That’s what players of the year do.

I don't see how Hardy doesn't win BE POW.
He outperformed two guys that had owned us on Nova.
Hardy was awesome with a capital, well, he was awesome.

I'll leave it at that.

Well, Brooks had a Big East record 52 points so I think Dwight is going to lose this one.

Brooks could have scored 7. His team lost.
If Hardy took another 12 shots, he would have scored 50.

Brooks should not win.  PC sucks.  A truly grwat player w shit around him can make the tourney or at least do way better than prov ( marcus hatten anyone?).   Brooks deserves first team, but poy should be limited to hardy, hansbrough, or walker.   I think its hardy, but i do think hansbrough fets a lot of votes.

He may have. I obviously want Hardy to win the award and if I try to look at it with no SJU bias I still think Hardy is best choice but Hansbrough is very deserving also. Hansbrough has been consistently good basically the whole year while lead a team that was picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the Big East to the top of the conference. Him and Hardy are similar in that they both are the catalysts for overachieving teams but I think Hardys performance in our big wins sets him apart though.

thanks for looking that up.....i think we have a fair answer right there....so long as SJU ends up top 4 I think thats how it needs to go. I think both Hardy and Hans have exceeded Kemba
