Scholarships?
« on: March 19, 2011, 09:51:51 PM »
Stith and Polee are left + 9 new players= 11.
Jevon Thomas coming next year=12.
If everyone stays we cant bring in anyone new. If Stith leaves we can bring in God's Gift or someone else? I dont love Stith but I don't think they are going to make him leave. He contributed this year. We are also looking at Dingle andthe kid from St. anthony's. It would be great to get all these guys but how can we?

I think we have one ship left. Stith, although I wish him well would be wise to leave.

He got burn this year at times but he probably won't see action over Harrison, Lindsey and Pointer.

You get 13 ships so we have 1 left to give.  2 really since Thomas isn't due to come until the following year.  Though I remember someone mentioning there is a chance Thomas may need to take another year before arriving.

Show me a guy who is cool with not getting a lot of playing time, and I'll show a guy we don't need.

This is now about competition.  If you don't get the PT you think you deserve, work harder in practice. I that doesn't work, transfer to oakland or cleveland st.  Don't let the door hit you on the way out.  We no longer have to cater to someone's diva attitude.  Lavin will just replace them.

Cedric Jackson isn't the best example. He transferred out, and did something even these current kids couldn't do, beat Syracuse. And he helped them do it in the Dome.

Lavin said he has 3 scholarships to give. ( Per artical in New York Daily News)
Allowed     13    less return 2 = 11. Which mean one of the 9 we have been counting is a verbal not a NLI.

Which Daily News article is that? I was under the impression that all 9 recruits had signed on. Something new worry about. Welcome to March at SJU.

I think Stith stays and gets minutes.  Especially early pre-conference games.

We will have bigger egos on campus next fall. It's up to Lavin and staff to get these kids to buy in. Competion will determine PT.
