It seems the Johnnies recruits either stayed the same or dropped.

#40 Jakarr Sampson
#41 SirDominic Pointer
#45 Maurice Harkless
#62 D'Angelo Harrison
#79 Novell Pelle
#80 Amir Garrett

Harrison in the 60's is just plain idiotic.

Phil Greene didn't make the cut - in fact they still have him listed as a 2 Star recruit.  That makes no sense - on the same page they list him as only a 2 star recruit, they show his list of OFFERS (not just schools of interest, OFFERS):  St. Johns, West Virginia, DePaul, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, and Bradley.   Yahoo/Rivals also shows him with additional offers from South Florida, Marquette, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, and UTEP.

Offers from FIVE Big East Schools, THREE Pac 10 Schools, and 2 Big 12 schools, and they have him as a 2 Star?  Does that make ANY sense?

I don't trust what Scout says after seeing 4 star recruit Dele Coker play for 4 years.

Agree on all accounts, cr.  Harrison should be amongst the top 30-40 players, if you ask me.  Pelle is also a bit too low, as well.

I was also saying the same thing about Greene.  How can this kid have that many offers from the Big 6 conference schools; be the MVP on a solid IMG team; have a pretty decent spring and summer period a year ago and NOT be amongst the top 100 players in the nation?

Rivals should be coming out today.  I have more faith in their rankings

I don't trust what Scout says after seeing 4 star recruit Dele Coker play for 4 years.

Maybe they only watched him during practice. To hear Dave and some others tell it he was a cross between Willis Reed, Patrcick Ewing and Dwight Howard during practice. Unfortunately during games he was a homeless man's Yinka Dare at best.

Don't insult the homeless -- they would never accept Coker as a substandard version of Yinka Dare.  ;)

I really don't understand why Harrison is so low in every web sites ranking. I have seen most of our recruits play at least once (Have yet to see Greene) and Harrison is the one who has wowed me the most. I'm no scout, but the kid can score.

Brick Oettinger (PrepStars) has Harrison rated at #25 in his player rankings.  It's the highest I've seen him ranked.  I like that particular endorsement.   ;)

Really don't get it - he just finished his senior season as one of the top scorers in the country.  In post season, he EMBARRASED some guys higher ranked in the All America game (you outperform Shabazz Mohammed, that's saying something!).

But what gets me is that in the 2011 RSCI rankigns,  Immediately preceding that great senior year and dominant post season, Van Coleman and Bob Gibbons at Hoopmasters had him #22.  As mentioned, Brick Oettinger had him at 25.  Bricks compadre at Prepstars Rob Harrington didn't like him quite as much, but had him at #35.  Rivals had him at #41, and Scout at #45.  Only Dave Telep had him out of the 40s - and that was right AT #60.

I just don't get it.

Posted this in the Phil Greene thread on the recruiting forum but wanted to double expose it here.  I asked Bossi and Meyer on the Rivals board why Greene wasn't ranked.  Here is Bossi's response.

Eric/Jerry

Was hoping you could touch on Phil Greene a bit. I thought I read he was picked as MVP of his IMG team over Daniels and Traylor. Seeing Traylor on the list but no Greene?

Thanks!

I think Greene is a very good high school player but am not sure what role he plays at the high major level and see him as a mid/high major bubble guy. Don't see him as a point, but he isn't really a two either. Will score some, but not overly athletic. Would probably put him in the top 175-200 range, so he's not a slouch by any means!

With Traylor, can seem him as a role/specialist rebound and energy guy at a high major.

Daniels didn't play a game at IMG after the first week of December.

haha Bossi is the man. One of my favorite high school guys. What he said seems to be the general opinion of most of the recruiting analysts. I think Phil Greene is the weakest link of this class which isn't a terrible thing. I'm hoping that he fits a nice role on this team. Can't have all superstuds.
