Lunardi has us in as a 12 seed.

I don't really like speculation this early before the season but it's nice to see he has us in.

There no opinion that has been closer to fact than his.

Looks like somebody isn't sleeping on SJU.  We'll have some growing pains, but with our increase in skill, athleticism and depth at every position, I see us being real tough by mid-season.  Defensively alone we'll be a ton faster and able to do more things.  The offense will come along if we get point play moving with our 3 new guards.  Can't wait form the season.  Most anticipated season start ever for myself.

I agree with your entire post, MCN.  This is the most anticipation for me for a season to start since the '98-'99 season.

Can hardly believe he  has
villanova fighting for a 12th seed to get in...
and that  he includes notre dame and excludes georgetown.

Who'd have ever thought teams in the big east would be fighting for a 10th place finish in the league AND an NCAA tourney spot.

Rumbleinthegarden.com recently posted an article (see link below) analyzing the arguments over whether STJ's 2011 class is "flawed" notwithstanding their high ranking.  On the whole, I think the article does a good job of analyzing the strengths (plenty of athletic, decent-sized wing players that can handle the ball) and weaknesses (no "true" PG, thin team besides GG) of the 2011 class.  Regardless, can't wait to see them play!

All I know is if Steve Lavin could get last season's team to the dance I'd be surprised if he couldn't do the same with this year's bunch.  We just have too much quality depth to be denied barring the unforseen.  We have so many options at so many positions and such a proven staff all the ingredients are there for success regardless of age.  These kids play so much ball these days they already have experience coming in.  The fab five didn't need amazing coaching to accomplish what they did.  We have the coaching in place so why shouldn't we be good right away?  Guys who think we're going to slip just aren't evaluating our strong points properly IMO.
