The Road to St. John's Basketball: Paris Horne Before the Red Storm

Horne, originally from Philadelphia, played his high school ball at Middletown (DE), before spending a year alongside future Red Storm teammate Justin Burrell at Bridgton Academy in Maine.

As is documented during his time at Middletown, the 6’3″ guard’s incredible athleticism has been a part of his game, even before St. John’s.

During his four years with the Red Storm, he was three different, but equally important players.

The publicly soft-spoken Horne broke out during his sophomore season, leading the team in scoring with just over 14 points per game, to go along with 3 rebounds and 2 assists. He played in 34 minutes per game and it seemed the path was paved for Horne to be the star of the program.

Horne had a lot of big moments during his career but I absolutely loved his block against Davidson during the Holiday Festival...He really help set the tone on defense and that block was key

Two Horne memories immediately stick out to me.  First is when we upset Notre Dame his Sophomore year and he just took McAlarney out of the game completely on defense.  Second is his game winning corner three against Providence this season.  If he doesn't make that shot our season may have been drastically different.  Starting 2-0 in the league with two big road wins going into Big Monday against Georgetown was huge.

Don't forget that steal at Villanova!
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

That Prov three was huge and an underrated play in the season.  We had control the whole game until the final few minutes, Prov made a run and looked like they had all the momentum.  He doesnt make that, Prov get the final shot with the game tied.  Also, had a lot of timely rebounds at the end of games, specically the first georgtown game and off the free throw in the Pitt game where he threw it high to DJ.   He always had a knack of doing the spin move on free throws to get a board and looked like he would save it for important moments.

Also, loved how he made everyone earn it on the free throw line when the opposing team looked like it had a breakaway dunk.
