I think the Christ the King teams of the late 80's were better than the team with Odom,Barkley,Claxton. I take Phelps,Reeves,Faulker,Beckett etc over them

The Power Memorial teams with Alcindor in '62-63 were the most dominant I've ever seen.  Lew was an unstoppable force at both ends.  They also had a 6'9" guy, in those days if you had a 6'6" or 7" guy you had a big team.  Those Power teams ruled over Sonny Dove at St. Francis Prep and Rudy Bogad at Molloy who both turned out to be pretty good players here.  Now if only Lapchick hadn't been forced to retire we might have had Alcindor here too.

Power did lose the one game to DeMatha.  A few years earlier when Connie Hawkins was a junior, I think Boys may have also had Billy Burwell (started at center for Illinois) as a senior.  Year before that may have been Burwell as a junior and Tommy Davis who later played outfield for the Dodgers.  Then again, one could argue that any team with Oscar Robertson (Crispus Attucks?) was the best of all time.

I'm assuming you're talking pre basketball-factory/prep schools that can recruit nationally for players (Oak Hill and the like) where teams nowadays have can have 7-10 future Div-1 players, 3 or 4 future NBA players on the same team...

I was at Archbishop Molloy 1967-71
We had some great battles with Power those years

We had Kevin Joyce & Brian Winters
Power had Ed Searcy, Len Elmore & Jap Trimble.

Although not deserving to be on this list, If I remember after beating Power in
the 1969 CHSAA Championship game, Molloy ended the year ranked top 5 in the nation

The 6'9' guy was named Art Kenney. If I recall they also had a nifty 6'2" guard named Jack Bettridge

Bettridge went to SJU and played outstanding D against Calvin Murphy of Niagara at Niagara.  I think Murphy was averaging in the 30s and Jack got in his grill, we won that game easily.

pmg911.....forget the senior guards name....and not sure of a Lee Green...however Anthony Cade was enrolled at Tolentine not sure if it was 88 or 89. Almost positive it was 89....went on to Oak Hill. Became a Mcdonalds All American. I believe he was supposed to go to Louisville. Not sure if he actually played there either. But that would have made 3 MCD AA at Tolentine in 1989. Don't know what ever happened to him.

At Tolentine during Malik's senior year, there were a total of 7 Division 1 players.  One of them went to Xavier.  He wore goggles during games.  I am not sure of his last name, but I think it was Holmes.  I do not think Anthony Cade was on that team.

I dunno - guy was good enuf to play 3 seasons in the NBA, and be a 14/4 guy in both the SEC for Kentucky and the Pac 10 for U$C.   A lot of "non-overrated" kids never produced like that....

Holy Cross was pretty strong in the late 60s, and beat a very good Molloy team for the city championship in "68, I think. Cross had Schaeffer, Lyons, Stacom. Groom and a little point guard, Jack Breen, who beat Molloy's press. Great game before 6,000 at Alumni Hall.

I think he played for St. Rays with Dana Dingle. Not sure if it was the same year, but Rays had a backourt or Eric Harris,Kareem Reid and Charlton Clarke
