After playing and coming in second place at the iS8/ Nike Spring High School Classic championship game with the Playaz Club Seniors, NYCHoops caught up with 6-5 shooting guard Sean Kilpatrick and asked about his future college plans "In two weeks I will visit Cincinnati, Kansas State and Kentucky."

Kilpatrick's list is now down to his final four, Kentucky, Kansas State, St. Johns, and Cincinnati. This past January he made his unofficial visit to St. John's.

NYCHoops also had a chance to speak with Kilpatrick's AAU coach Thomas Sampogna of Team Frenji who added, "After these next three visits under his belt we should have a final decision." Coach Sampogna has been assisting Kilpatrick in his recruitment process this summer.

Kentucky, Cincinnati, Kansas St., and St. John's
We don't have the fan base, tradition, head coach, or facilities of Kentucky, but Roberts can sell Queens, his team GPA, and playing time.

For those that have seen this kid play, who would you compare his game to?

Kilpatrick to St. John's
Sean Kilpatrick is on the verge of committing to St. John's.

Kilpatrick, a 6-foot-3 senior shooting guard from White Plains, is awaiting approval from his mother on the decision.

"It's pretty close, not yet," White Plains coach Spencer Mayfield said Wednesday by phone. "We're actually in the process of talking to his mother and (St. John's) Coach (Norm Roberts) his trying to reach out to his mother today. I was really waiting to hear from his mother.

Kilpatrick, who dropped 44 points in a game at the Big Apple Classicl this year, earlier said St. John's was his top choice.

"Yes, it is (my favorite)," he said last month at the Jordan Brand Classic at Madison Square Garden. "I think that would be a comfortable place for me."

Kilpatrick will likely attend prep school at South Kent (Conn.)

"It looks like he'll be going to prep school, probably South Kent," Mayfield said. "Hopefully it all works out."

"He could be a very good player," the coach added earlier this season. "He's very good in the open floor. He's an excellent finisher and can create his own shot. He's improved his outside shooting."

as usual, zags outdoes me.  SK's game is a blend of larry wright and dj kennedy, and can be compared to rip hamilton.  he is great at running through screens and will often be a catch-one dribble-shoot guy off of screens.  he needs to work on his handle and his defense but hes a great finisher, his jump shot is pretty consistent and he has a quick release.

Funny or not? It took us almost 3 months after the season ended to get some players for 2008. Meanwhile, we already have two guys for 2009.

The kid can shoot and create his own shot. If you need him to rebound then he will do that (ala DJ) but he has good court vision too. But his shooting to me is what sets him a part. Will need to adjust to the speed of the college game and tighten up on defense. This is a good get for STJ.

Sean welcome aboard!! Gotta a chance to see you play in high school and look forward to seeing your development over the upcoming years. Best of luck!

Sean Kilpatrick isn't a done deal yet.....I'm not counting my chickens before they're hatched. Yes its a good chance however its not set in stone he is coming from what I hear. I for one though hope he comes.
