Good read with some interesting tidbits-

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=katz_andy&id=6742819

I was at that ABCD camp where Lenny took on Lebron.  I guess I should have gotten a jersey signed back then.  I've seen lots of these kids before they blew up as before I had kids I used to go every year.  My favorite was when I was watching at ABCD and Mike Brey came up to me and asked me what I thought about Troy Murphy because I was watching his game.  Was pretty cool environment where a D1 coach was asking me about a player.  I believe Lamont Hamilton or somebody else was playing on that court.  Troy Murphy was borderline top 100 at that time and I really loved the kid for SJU before he was big.  Not sure if I helped Breyer or not with my opinion, but Troy Murphy had a pretty good career at Notre Dame and beyond.  Good times.

You might have the names mixed up, MCN.  Actually, Troy Murphy wasn't recruited by Mike Brey.  Murphy was a John MacLeod recruit.

You're right.  It was a looong time ago.  It was Brey asking me but must have been somebody else.  I remember talking about Murphy but must have been a different coach.  You're right because Troy was before Lamont.  I think it was Lamont's year.  Now I'm all confused and have to look back.  It was somebody who blew up who Brey asked me about.

Maybe, he asked you about Harangody.  Although, he's a couple of years behind Lamont.  Let me quit before I confuse you (again) and myself.  LOL

Pat garrity?

He said, Brey commented to him about a player.  I'm gonna assume Brey was already the head coach for Notre Dame at the time.  So, I doubt it would be Pat Garrity, as he's ahead of Troy Murphy.

My favorite ABCD memory was Telfair v. Darius Washington.  I hated Telfair, so I was happy to see Washington get the better of him (IMO) in the all-star game.  I still can't believe Washington didn't make it in the NBA, but it just show how hard it is to make it as a combo guard....kid should have stayed in college and worked on his pg skills.

There was a fierce rivalry between the two. I remember Washington's father hated Telfair, feeling that he was overrated and taking opportunities away from his son. I thought Washington was a better player

The year a bunch of us went (think 2005) didn't Stephenson and Mayo go at each.  Mayo scholled Lance from what I remember, but there was a big age difference.

Actually found a video of it
OJ Mayo vs. Lance Stephenson - ABCD 05
