So would I! Anyone else working for st.johns who has a son 6-9 or taller?

Marillac  we also had ton of seniors who brought that up classmen swagger & that team hit the weight room pretty hard. Our team last year was mentally and Physical stronger than this years team. I don't foresee them being better on boards do to lack of college coaching & weight room sessions. But as I said in last post lavin is looking for size first and foremost so he also notices that we are like the Knicks and need a big man

Freshman can never be as mentally ready as seniors, but these kids have swagger and they don't have three years of losing burned into their brains.  They have no reason to doubt themselves, whereas you could see last year's squad act like "here we go again" when things started to turn.

Truth be told, I want the best teams in the country first two games.  Omar, Kyle and Wilie's first season that we beat Kentucky in the first game of the season (with Prince and Bogans) and then lost a very close game to Kansas with three first round picks.

The length and athletic ability of this year's squad will be head and shoulders above what we had last year.  I don't see much of a fall off with rebounding.  Remember we had a 6'7 beanpole freshman start at center for us.

It took a while for last year's team to get over their losing mentality.  Even DJ seem to have a chip on his shoulders at times.

You know, we missed quite a few shots last year and often went long periods of time without scoring, which seemed to be a Coach Robert's team trademark.  I would hope that we would make many more shots this year, thus less OR chances.

I still think quickness and position mean more to rebounding than height.  We certainly will have the quickness.  I think we will have height as well.  We have a number of players in excess of 6'7".  Add to their heights that they can jump to the moon and I believe we will be much better in the RB department, even with the freshmen and a JC kid.

As far as the recruitment of the name sake of this thread, I would pass.  Coach Lavin has a plan- 9 this year and 3 next year.  However, I can see him in the future going the one season route with a talented player, just not at this time.

While we had a good season we did not exactly win the NC. Height does help in basketball.

We had no outside shooting, length, ball-handlers, true point guard, true center, etc.  We still fought our way to a six seed and earned an even higher seed than that.

This squad will have a true center, so much more size and length at all positions, more balanced scoring, and more ball-handlers.  The problem will be the inexperience and strength of what we have.  It will be very exciting.

I agree and I think we would have been even better with more minutes by Evans and Burrell.  Polee didn't earn starters minutes.  We were dominant at the 1,2 3 and 4 positions and that got us through. Polee should ave backed up at the 3/4 and Sean and Justin should have split center.

You are right, Polee did not earn starters minutes and he did not get them. He may have started but he averaged 15 min per game-those are not starters minutes.

Tony Woods the other 7ft from Wake Forest which is less skilled than Walker sign with Oregon after visiting Kentucky Texas & Louisville.
Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"
