Now that Kevin Boyle is at Montverde Academy....
« on: July 30, 2011, 07:05:11 PM »
($130K - nice for a HS coach!) replacing Kevin Sutton, will the staff be watching the Florida school a little more closely?   And will Montverde in Florida become a destination for more NJ/NY area kids?  Sutton did a GREAT job of getting his kids D-1 scholarships from Montverde (more than 20 in 7 years), and Boyle with Kyrie Irving and Michael Gilchrist the last  two years, might be an even bigger draw for prepsters...

I can't decide if it's good or bad that he will pull area kids down there.  They will now be in the backyard of the ACC/SEC.  My hope is kids go down there and find the south boring and want to come back north for college.

Whats the difference between that and IMG Academy? IMG sent kids all over the place. One being Phil Greene

Dave, sorry for this basic question, but who is Kevin Boyle?  Or to put it another way, what school did he last coach at?  Thanks!

I think the amount of Northeast kids he pulls there will lessen with each passing year. There are plenty of talented kids in Florida who will fill up his roster.

I am sure he will get players to come to his school. He managed to get plenty of NY kids to somehow attend high school in New Jersey.

Curious, Dave.   Sutton and Montverde made their "bones" on foreign imports the last 7 or 8 years - players like Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (UCLA) and his twin brother Emanual Bidias a Moute (UC Santa Barbara), Idong Ibok (Michigan State), Soloman Alabi (Florida State), Ruslan Pateeve (Arizona State), Frank Ndongo (VCU), Szymon Lukasiac (Jacksonville), Arminus Urburtis (Hofstra).....

From looking at the St. Pat's teams of the last several years, it looks like Boyle doesn't go that route.   I'm wondering if there's going to be a transition time, or if Boyle's the type to come in, clean house, and start fresh with "his guys"?
