I cant even lie, Ive been away from the board for awhile - call it a summer vacation I guess...BUT someone refresh my memory here. Who were the 2 incoming recruits that:

1. Won a high school all-star dunk contest this past spring?

2. Was contemplating going pro for baseball as a pitcher (Harrison)?

And did Pelle officially become eligible to play this season? (I remember there were rumors of his grades not qualifying)

Thanks in advance...

I think Amir Garrett is the answer to both your questions.

Thanks for the response. So, what's the latest on Garrett then?

Has he made a final decision whether to play hoops at SJU or go pro in baseball?

Good to hear.  The staff was on him really early.  There must have been a reason for it.  It's funny because with the way Lavin is recruiting, it is easy to overlook a guy like Greene as he's the only kid we have not ranked in the top 100 yet he average something like 20+ppg at powerhouse IMG academy.  This kid very well could be our PG.  Good to know that he'll be pushing Lindsey for the spot.

No two players are from the same state!

(1) Harkless - New York
(2) Sampson - Ohio
(3) Harrison - Texas
(4) Pointer - Michigan
(5) Lindsey- Pennsylvania
(6) Pelle - California
(7) Garrett - Nevada
(8) Achiuwa - (Nigeria)
(9) Greene - Illinois
(10) Gathers - Louisiana

It's also interesting that I don't think one American player on this list played at only one high school.

We can call it Lavin's All American Team. ;-D

In the ESPN eval (although prob written a year ago)
it lists Greene as a SG, the first sentance calls him a combo,
but the rest of the write up sounds like a PG more than a 2 ?

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/103125

"Greene is a slender combo guard with good quickness and a smooth game. He attacks the rim and finishes well. A shifty ballhandler, he can either get into the lane and finish or pull up to hit mid-range jumpers. In transition, he's very efficient and makes good decisions, usually getting all the way to the rim or setting up teammates for easy baskets. Defensively, his length and quickness allow him to defend both guard positions equally effectively."

FWIW all three of our "combo guards" have described themselves as point guards!  It should be interesting.  Greene's jersey selection of #1 show that he has some swagger.
