Big East presidents OK expansion

Why aren't we going after Memphis?  Is Louisville blocking it?

Big 12 will be looking for at least one more team as it looks like Missouri will be going to the SEC.

Maybe they should go after the Jets. 

Looks like Houston is meeting this week to give permission to "explore" new conference affiliation.

Various reports are saying that WVU will officially be invited and will accept the Big 12 inivitation as soon as Missouri officially gives notice they are bolting for the SEC.

Once WV goes this conference is done. They are the stronghold of BE football. None of the other schools we want will come bc the Big 12 will next go after BYU and Boise.

Time for a weaker all basketball conf that isnt going to get any stars to come to it.

BIg East commish should realize that unless there is some sort of miracle, in 2014 when the BCS contract is up, the big east will no longer have a guaranteed bid.  THe conference has been terrible at football for a long time.  Focus on what you are good at.  Invite Memphis, Temple, and Umass or some other similar school.  They all have representable bball programs and also have sub par football programs.  8 Football, 7 non-football and Notre Dame.

If it blows up you lose everything.  If you want to save it stay at what you are good at. 

The remaining football schools are trying for the best football options without considering bball, which is understandable.  Now with what has happened it may be time to change that plan since most of the football options have been exhausted. 

Personally, im not totally against going off with the non-football schools but as long as Uconn and Louisville are still around i'd prefer to stay, that's of course until this happens again down the road.

That was certainly understandable in the beginning b/c that's where the big money is.  But with the current forecast and options, i'd put the big east's odds of maintaining that status right around the odds of Lloyd Christmas getting together with Mary Swanson.

I continue to say that it is time for the basketball schools to look out for themselves.  we should not be left at the altar but should take charge NOW.  We first consider the money coming in from schools leaving and go out and hire a real commissioner and a marketing maven; form a basketball oriented conference; negotiate a contract with one of the sports networks as a Basketball product as we will be; extend the MSG contract; invite schools who have GOOD basketball programs but consider football to be minor to Basketball.  If we had a commissioner with foresite, he would have attacked the ACC first by offering BC a chance to come back which their alums would have jumped up and down for.

We need like minded schools that are basketball centric that will make a commitment to dedicate resources to their basketball programs in major US cities.  There is no reason we can't make this work.
