Prediction:
« on: October 24, 2011, 09:30:43 AM »
If we're going to compete with 7 players, we're going to need Nurideen Lindsey to be the goods.
That's asking a lot. What do we predict?

Cant even fathom a guess, but we'll get a glimpse tomorrow  :)

I hope the coaches pick the walkons that play the best "D" -

I forgot to include Sharif Fordham. Not a scorer, but a good contributor.
Great defender. Strong rebounder. If he had a jump shot, he'd have made money playing pro ball.

Sharif's best contribution to society apparently is ability to make license plates.

He didn't do anything wrong when he was here. And, he's out of prison now, he has a family, and he's doing much better. We can't say that about every SJ BBall alumni.

Boy for someone who likes to take digs at people you sure do get sensitive yourself.

I am glad to hear Sharif has gotten his life back together.

Its a tough call on Lindsey. He shot hardly any 3's last year at Redlands, but it doesn't sound like he needed to because the competition wasn't very great and he could always beat he defender. It sounds like he can get to the basket, but again, he was driving at will against lesser competition last year. The fact that he was getting looks from NBA teams tell me that regardless of the competition, he's gotta be good. I just don't know exactly what to expect from him. That is kind of the fun part about this season. We know we have some great talent, but we still don't know what to expect. It's gonna be fun watching all of them, but I am most curious about Nuri. I would hae no idea who to compare him to.

You really think leading a JC team into the national tourney - playing ONLY against 19-20-21 year old competion and being first team JC AA was LESS than some of our other guys putting up stats against high school 16 and 17 year olds???????

What are you expecting from Nuri?

Also what JUCO successes has Lavin had in the past?

Harkless played again quality competition. So did Pointer. So did Greene.
Is the season lost. Yes, I think it is. I said 12 wins with 7 players.

You have something to say about that? A prediction of your own, I'm listening.

While it would have been great to have the three kids eligible, as far as won loss what are we talking 3 more wins maybe? This season was never going to be about our won loss record even with all the recruits. This is going to be a difficult season, but I am looking forward to it. While I agree Poison is way to negative and is almost morphing into Realfan, at least he is doing it early. I can guarantee you that there is going to be a bunch of delusional posters whining about our won loss record once the season starts.

No offense, but I think you're having some trouble comprehending the point of this thread. See on the top, there is a poll? It's pretty clear if you read the question. In no post on this thread did I mention anything about wins, or our 3 ineligible recruits. We have 7 players. Mentioning Lindsey is coming at this situation from a positive perspective.

This thread is about him.

Threads are discussion forums that often take a tangent.
(We had some wild tangents last week !)

No such thing as a lost season.
They were never going to win the NCAA tourn so young even if all 3 here.

They are being thrown into the fire young.
They'll (all 6+ newcomers) get a world of experience,
And be ready to make a deep run in 12/13

I'm on record for a lot of things. The point of this thread was to look at the season from a positive perspective. I guess I failed. When I predicted 12 wins I did so with no intention of slighting our 7 players, but with 7 players, as a St.John's fan, we know that it is only a matter of time until someone sprains an ankle, pulls a groin or takes an elbow in practice.

12 is my head. My heart would say 17-19 wins. Either way, I'll be there cheering us on. Like I have been for over 25 years.

No offense but you have been whining like a 12 year old girl whose boyfriend dumped her at the Sadie Hawkins dance for like 2 months now. Yes, we get it the kids didn't take care of their academic responsibilities and Lavin recruited kids with risks. Welcome to big time college basketball. It is time to move on. You have posted on these forums long enough to comprehend  the posts usually vary from the title topic around the 5th or 6th post.  Anyway you should be thanking me for the backhanded compliment as well as giving you something new to whine about.
