Awesome article.  Also awesome job by Lavin to give the guy a call back, it has to be a huge thrill or a D-3 team to plat a Big East school

That's a beautiful part of the state and the bay. Solomon's Island is a great place to dock sailboats at a reasonable price.

It truly is a very down home area. I like Coach Harney's story. He might one day soon make a good recruiter as an asst for a Div 1 school.

One question from the piece: Does M Repole qualify as a "Daddy Warbucks?"  :2funny:

Coach Harney is an impressive guy who took a D-III team from 9-16 in his first season six years ago to 75-15 in the last three seasons. Got to their Elite 8 last season (25-6).

Sounds like a coach to keep an eye on.

Besides he's Irish and his old man is from Brooklyn.

if this hasn't been published, i'd take it to the sports desks of the daily news and ny post and sell it.  you won't get much, but it's nice on your resume.  it'll also open the door.  i know many people who've made it to the big time this way.

Coach Harney is X/O savant. They'll pose more of a challenge than CW Post because they'll actually be running sets

I thought Casey was the X/O savant of the Norm staff?

Process of elimination?

All joking aside I think Coach Casey has done a really nice job at CW Post. They should do pretty well this season. I also see their coaches out all the time at every tournament.

But the talent level will be exponentially less than what Post had to offer.

Exactly. A non-speedy 6'4" white dude won't be able to do crap against Harkless. And the other matchups will be similar in tone.

Then again, I remember Northport beating Hempstead for the Class A Long Island championship, so what do I know?

Chanticleers vs Cavs, my friend.   Those 6'6 white dudes couldn' t POSSIBLY do crap against 7'4 Ralph Sampson in his collegiate prime!

I wouldn't go that far. St. Mary's has a lot more size than Post

The game will be streamed on ESPN3.com..

http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_/source/espn3/#type/upcoming/

I'm not gonna be able to watch the game since I'm not tv subscriber (TWC) of my local cable carrier (I have Directv).  I only have 'em for internet services.  I've been attempting to log onto ESPN3 (to no avail) and figured I would call 'em, but was told that was the reason I haven't been able to log on.  I wonder if there is any validity to it or their services is just screwed up  (EDIT: There is some validity to her reasoning).

Nevertheless, I'm gonna need a feed for tomorrow night.  LOL

Anyone know if it will be on tv locally?

Apparently, it's not on TV. SportsNet is showing NY's team, Syracuse.
Many of us have Cablevision. I think what we really need is some kind of bootleg or illegal site to watch it on.

Any ideas?
