this is weak.

marinetto should be fired tonight...period.

the best basketball conference in the country gets stripped and there's no response whatsoever.

he should also be sued.

If you were Marinetto, who would you go after?

football??? i'd also go after air force and temple...temple for all sports.  as i wrote before, my main concern is the laissez faire approach marinetto is taking towards basketball.  you need to add on schools to replace the three powers we're losing...and a super conference is the way to go...memphis, butler, xavier, charlotte at the very least...on the outside, i'd like to see a merger with the atlantic 10.  32 teams...four regional divisions with home and homes within the divisions...all sports within the divisions to cut travel costs.  big east basketball was king...now the whole conference is a shambles.

WE on the boards keep mentioning Temple and Memphis etc to boast the basketball ... but has anyone seen anything that indicates Marinatto is actually trying to add any basketball schools?    Because I haven't heard a peep.    So I think our visions of bolstering the basketball side are a pipe dream.

He hasn't.  Best chance to boost basketball is to either pick up and leave with Gtown, Nova, Marquette, Prov, DePaul, Hall, and ND and leave on our own.

Or hope Rutgers and Uconn pick up and leave for greener pastures.

Then a legit 12-14 team bball only conference can be built.

This is wisdom right here.

Big East been killin great bball for the sake of mediocre fball. A shame in the most extreme.
Parking only for NYCHA permit holders.

I agree with you, Moose.  The powers that be need to start making some (sound) decisions that is good for basketball.  I'd also like to add the teams that newsie mentioned.  Quite frankly, they should've been proactively going after those schools once they heard the news about 'Cuse and Pitt leaving the conference.

Some folks need to start taking these guys to task.

Unfortunately, the powers that be in the BE still see more revenue from a medicore BE football conference than from a top-notch BE basketball conference.  Accordingly, BE basketball will continue to suffer the deleterious effect of the BE's efforts to patch together a BE football conference to maintain its BCS standing.

East-

STJ
Gtown
Prov
Nova
Hall
Richmond/Mason

West-

Marquette
DePaul
ND
Xavier
Butler
Dayton

I don't touch Memphis, Temple, Charlotte and Umass since they have D1 football currently or are in serious plans to jump up ala Charlotte and Umass.

If you want to get cute and go 14 teams with 7 in each which is very possible I go and try to add a team from Mass area like maybe a Northeastern/BU/Holy Cross for the East division.  And for the West maybe adding a school like Detroit, I know they are fresh in our minds but the Michigan market might be attractive.  Or a St. Louis.

Pretty damn good 14 team bball conference.  Lots of major markets covered.

I would sign up for this is  a second.  I'll take Richmond.

I could certainly be in agreement with those particular teams.  I would also not have a problem by adding a Detroit and St. Louis.

Adding Fordham devalues the conference.  If we are gong to be adding bball schools, they should be upper tier like Xavier, Temple.  I even think Umass isn't a bad fit, but right now the people up erw have little Internet in bball, and they haven't put much resources into their program.  They have some history though and with improved conference affiliation, could be valuable on the bball side eventually.

Unfortunately, I think we're going to have to lose the elitist attitude as a basketball conference and school. These schools leaving is a killer

No it's not.  You're just trying t make a case for smaller local schools with little bball history because you're an Iona shill.  Fordham has no place in the future of this conference.  Neither does Iona.  SJU and the rest of the existing schools must NOT succumb to a loser attitude and devalue our conference and school.

I said nothing about Iona. They belong in maac.

But you're showing that elitist attitude that I spoke of

St. John's and Cuse are in the same state doesn't mean they are close.  STJ and FU are 15 miles apart.  Wouldnt make sense.  Just like Temple will never get in there with Nova.

My issue with Fordham isn't that they're close.  My issue is that they bring little value.  Temple has a fantastic history and should certainly be a candidate.
