Who's coming off the bench now?
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:59:28 AM »
Might not be a bad idea to start White, so we can have our players for 40 minutes.
So, I'm suggesting

PG - Greene
SG - Harrison
SF- White
PF - Harkless
C - GG

Bench - Stith, Pointer ??

Do any of our walk ons have enough ability to contribute?

What do we think?

I've consulted with the voices in my head. We think Pointer will start and we think all the walkons will be worse than Andre Stanley. We think that on the bright side all of you who have been pining for the glory years of SJ basketball will now get to witness it: ladies and gentlemen, presenting the Wonder Five. We think it's odd that when players used to transfer it was the fault of the stupid incompetent staff but now when they transfer it's because they're quitters and pussies. We think TGAPL has lost nearly as many players in a year and a half as Beteljuice did in 6, but that it's okay because it's all BJ's fault anyway. Finally, we think a long year just got longerer and more boringer and that my prediction of a post season CBI run has just gone down the toilet.

I think White will get some playing time off the bench against Fordham but if Garrett is cleared by the Texas-Pan Am game, which they said would be the game he can debut in, I think we should be fine. It really should only be a one game problem.

I think we have no choice but to give White his chaance. Why not? Whats to lose?

The human thought process is very mysterious, n'est pas?

Not that it matters too much, but I'd imagine Dom would come off the bench because of his versatility and ability to spell the front court.  Amir (and the mystery transfer) can't get here soon enough.

He started last game ( not sure if that it was a home town thing) but he has to start imo-- he's our 2nd best player less Mo.

I think Pointer has shown a lot of signs that he'll eventually be a great player. I would love to start him, but I don't know how we'll be able to finish a game, if we can't spell both the front backcourts at different times throughout the game. Dunlop apparently won 2 NCs at the D2 level, and now he's going to have to figure out how to get at least one D2/D3 player involved.

PG-Stith
SG-Harrison
SF-Dom
PF-Harkless
C-GG

Let Green come off the bench to give us that spark plus he is more of a combo guard than Stith. It would not mind using the 6-8 Sealy for 10 mins to give Harkless & GG breathers, until Amir & Cummings come in 2 games
Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

I think for the balance of the season you will see GG, Moe, Pointer, Harrison, and Greene start. We are going to need Dom's height immediately in BE play. Stith and Garrett will come off bench.

Hopefully Cummings (if he makes it-no inside info) can provide about 12-15 minutes a game as he is supposed to be 6-7 and spell Gift and Moe for 5-7 minutes a half. From what I heard about Cummings, he was good enough to get a mid major ship so he is not going to be your typical walk on.

I just hope that a couple of these walk ons can contribute during the Fordham game. Lindsey really f'd this program. I just hope that he's f'd himself as much as he's f'd us. Selfish prick.

Not a bad lineup. As the season progresses they would only get better. I would start Greene and use Stith off the bench. Dom is showing offensive improvement . He is the recruit that also improved the most from the beginning untill the end of last year and according to ESPN was our top ranked recruit.

At this point we need to keep our players on the court long enough to win a game.
The last thing we want is Stith running our offense. To me, he is patient. He waits an eternity before doing anything. Very similar to Eugene Lawrence in that regard.

I'd be more comfortable going with Greene at the 1, with Harrison spelling him when Greene sits.
Dunlap has no choice but to give minutes to White. This is a local pride game. We lost 9 seniors. We have a depleted roster. There has to come a time when we stop with the excuses at St.John's. It's always something here.

Fordham doesn't have more talent than we do. They have more bodies, but not more talent. To win, our best players have got to play like they can. We need a great performance by Mo, SirDom, Greene, Gift and Harrison. Losing this game will send a powerful message to local talent.

While I love the idea of recruiting all over, we still need to establish our program with local talent.
