Aint worried. Just gotta realize that the progress of the program gotta be pushed back a year.

Thing is this: Sit in a living room wit Steve Lavin and if you aint optimistic bout the program then you aint gonna be optimistic bout anytin.

He is the most impressive one-on-one recruiter I ever seen (and I seen Cal in two living rooms). He wows them on the couch. He remembers evrybody's name (EVRYBDY'S) and they affiliation like he Rainman or sometin. He knows more when he walk in that door than any coach. Knows the kid, his fams, his in-laws, his HS coach, his AAU coach, his assistant AAU coach, his dog, his iguana.

Lav aint gonna get evry kid (see Kyle). But he is the best closer I ever seen and I seen plenty.

He luvs St. John. Luvs his colleagues. Luvs his secretary(s). Even luvs Aldo over at D'Angelo and I dont know why (just playin bre!). How many cafeteria workers you know get a Christmas card from a HC? He here fo the long haul cause fo the first time since Purdue he feels the family atmosphere that some y'all deride, but most y'all know make St. John a special place.

I remain,
Choz4Life
Quite an endorsement. I have been and remain all in when it comes to our coach Steve Lavin. :)

I think we all just needed our expectations reset after having them whisked to a higher level thanks to a great Jan and Feb last season.  Choz is right.  At the end of the day, with Lavin here and the staff he put in place everything is going to be alright!

A few setbacks doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things.  All we need is a few more big recruits and we're back on track entering next season.  The doom and gloom has to end.

Lavin at least has been out recruiting. I assume he will be back coaching by the time big east play rolls around and he will coach the final 20 games. WE have a great core and really needs just 2-3 players for 2012-2013. There are still going to be a lot of useful recruits in late signing period. Once things settle down, we are an attractive destination for players, especially big men.

I've been told his cancer is gone. Now he is recovering.

-Expectations were elevated too quick. Getting 9 recruits of that caliber was nothing short of amazing.
-So 3 guys couldn't make it in. It happens all the time. It happened at Kansas this year but they have enough depth to sustain it so its not news worthy.
-Wood not signing a LOI shouldn't scare anyone. If for some reason his credits don't transfer it would be unfair to him/school signing a LOI this fall.

There has been a lot of over analysis by everyone. Just relax. Rome wasn't built in 1 recruiting class.

A guy on the other site posted that he can't believe we would hire a 47 year old with cancer.  I had to atke a break from reading such garbage posts for a few days.  I can't believe that any fan would question whether hiring Lavin was a good move.

That "guy" also posts here (bobre).  I guess you're not familiar with his posting history.

The only thing Im scared at right now is momentum. Its important in recruiting and if we lose it and guys start transferring than we are looking at another horrible bunch of years.

I missed that, but if it was Bobre, he always has an agenda. In this case, he's pissed that we didn't hire Mark Jackson, so now every opportunity he gets to trash Lavin he will. He's so transparent it's scary.

Absolutely awful for him to imply we shouldn't have hired Lavin because he subsequently got cancer.  As if the administration could have known that; OR if it should have made a difference had they known.  Simply ludicrous to question coach's health in my opinion.

But, with that said; while I would disagree, and say it's extreme for him to question whether the administration should've hired Lavin, it's not that ridiculous.  Fan bases question their coaches all the time.  I guarantee somewhere there are UK fans today questioning whether Calipari is the right coach for them.

I think Lavin has done a tremendous job, and I'm very optimistic that he'll sign a solid class this spring, paving the way for untold success in the next two years.  But I don't mind other posters giving their two cents.  Stranger things have been said....

I think Coach should fire Tony Chiles, then we will be right back on track...

Does anyone know what Barry Rohrssen is up to recently, dont know his relationship with current staff but could'nt hurt if someone leaves.

I disagree about Chiles, but I respect your opinion, Fordham.  However, looking at where we came from, and where Lavin has gotten us in his first recruiting class, I do think it is ludicrous to bash the hiring of Lavin.

By the way, I am well familiar with most of the posters, their feelings toward players past and present, as well as their opinions on who we should have hired.  I just try to avoid mentioning posters by name.  I'm a punk in that sense.

By the way Manhattan is doing this year, its obvious that Rohrssen is born to be an assistant not a head coach.

I think Chiles, with his Philly/Drexel connection, is being blamed for Rise and Nuri's recruitment.

Not sure but he was at the Lehigh game earlier in the season.

I'm willing to bet that Rohrssen disagrees with you.  His suits don't look like those of an assistant.
