Father Harrington has asked that Steve Lavin take the rest of the season to recover from his surgery, and because he really likes it when the basketball is terrible.

I'll put it this way, we should get used to the call ins

This

I thought you said he was coaching the providence game baldi

I jumped the gun. He's back in NY, but he won't be coaching this year

I thought your source said he was returning to LA with his lovely wife never to return. Now you say your source says he won't be coaching this year. I think you may have lost some credibility.

Yo bro, I already have zero credibility. But Im tellin you hes not coming back this year

There hasn’t been an official press release reporting that coach is done for the season. Everything to this point is simply a regurgitation of information that has already been made public. Yes its possible coach could miss the year. However, according to coach, it's also possible for him to return. The only thing that is for certain is that it has yet to be determined. I don’t think it would make you an oracle if your premonition, or should I say dream, should come true.

Today by Kieran Darcy:

St. John's head coach Steve Lavin, who has missed the team's past nine games as he continues to recuperate from prostate cancer surgery, could miss the rest of this season.

Lavin raised that possibility in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, published on Wednesday.

"There really is a strong argument for both," Lavin said of coming back this season versus remaining away from the sideline. "If we're doing good in February and I get a second wind, a clean bill of health and I've suffered no setbacks, it's worth keeping that door open. But if I'm not feeling up to the heavy lifting of coaching, I can stay in this GM role."

Lavin continues to travel for recruiting purposes, as well as manage the coaching staff and attend some practices. But he has not coached the Red Storm since their 58-57 loss to Texas A&M on Nov. 18.

After missing the team's season opener, then returning to coach the next four games, Lavin stepped away again, saying he had come back prematurely and did not yet have the stamina to coach in games.

The good news is, Lavin's surgery was deemed a success, and he is cancer-free.

While I do think he will be back next year I also do think this team needs his leadership.
