I never said the Gauchos don't know anything about the game, I asked you if you were lumping your program into the "abysmal coaching" group that you proclaimed AAU hoops were, the last time I checked the Gauchos were an AAU program. I have been watching the Gauchos plays for over 20 years and have brought teams the the gym many times in the past. I would never make a blanket statement like that about AAU hoops but hey, you are expert on the Choz and the Choz are the be all and end all of AAU/youth hoops. It is reassuring to know that you think teaching young players the fundamentals of the game is boring. I wonder if Lou thoughtthat back in the day..?

You took a list of basic basketball skills and said kids are not beinbg taught these things, that is just not true. Then, when you get called out, you try and turn that list into advanced understanding of hoops. As you like tyo say, PLEASE SON.!!!

Coaching at the college level is about taking talent and molding it in a way that fits your team and program. Its not about teaching basics and if kids don't understand the basics when they get to campus they sit their ass on the bench and the kids that get it plays. The kids that don't understand the basics are referred to as RAW or PROJECTS.

Not to beat a horse that is dead and buried but it is pretty ironic that the best the offense looked outside of the Providence game was when Nuri was playing the point. I know, I know, I know. Everyone hated him, he is the reason Harrison can't shoot three's, Stith is short and the economy sucks. But we were more fun to watch....   

 We are 3-2 without Nuri.. what was our record with him?  4-5? 

We played two ranked teams very tough and I simply said the offense was better. If you want to play the won loss card what is our record this season with coach Lavin? And before people start responding I do not believe we are better off with Dunlap and the 40 seconds or more offense than Lavin

 The offense looked the best during the Providence game. I understand you throwing that out though because it refutes your argument. We lost a game against a decent team because Nuri missed two free throws.  Our offense sucked with him, and it sucks without him. 

 We need to run every chance we can.  I know we only have 7 guys and all that, but the we will never win a slow down game against anyone.

No I threw one game out of 14 out. Or we can simply call it the aberration game. I think some of you  would believe that Nuri was the second Kennedy shooter on the grassy knoll.

Yea, I went to the Northeastern game. It was a ton of fun. For them.

 I couldn't care less about Nuri because he's not here.  He quit 9 games into a season. Obviously he wasn't a good fit for the team on the court or off.  I disagree that the offense was better with him here.  Granted, he could get into the lane, and showed that in the first few games.  Once the scouting report on him was out his drives to the hole turned into turnovers and blocked shots.  He never passed the ball.

 Harrison has shined without Nuri.  I'll take the tradeoff.

  Did we have a PG during the Providence rout?  We have a bunch of kids that are decent ball handlers and can get the ball up the court.  Greene, Harrison, Harkless can all get the ball up the court. Garret has impressed me with his passing ability.  You don't need Steve Nash to run a fast break.   It helps, but we have the talent to run and run imo.

I like Harrison, I also liked Nuri. But I am a tad confused. Nuri couldn't shoot and was selfish right? He was averaging 2.9 asst shooting 46%.
Harrison is a great shooter and is not selfish therefore his 2.1 ast and 38% shooting make a lot of sense right?

  I never said Harrison was a great shooter.  Great is a word thrown around too lightly these days.  Nuri was a terrible shooter from outside of 12 feet. I'm not worried about a 0.8 discrepancy in assists, means nothing.  Nuri had the ball in his hand 80% of the time we  had the ball in offense. 

It is my belief that every single member of this team is better off without Lindsey on the court from a developmental perspective. You may disagree,  thats fine.

Now I may be wrong but on a team that is playing shorthanded and with no offensive weapons a kid that was recruited by the staff was only given 9 games to work things out. And if it was mutual, why is Nuri taking all the heat? Lavin and the wizard of the shot clock violation should be equally blamed. No? This whole Nuri situation sounds like the plot of the Robbie Benson basketball movie One on One.

   Dunlap , from what i recalled, came out and said if anyone is to blame for Nuri not working out here, it should be him...

I think it is the "my way or the highway" principle.  Nuri was apparently asked to do things I this system he didn't want to do.  Players can't be allowed to dictate terms and run the team.  It is the foremost team-killer.   Dunlap takes the blame because he knows how good Steve Lavin is with the players.  Lavin is the glue and the ultimate player's coach.  It's certainly a contrast in personality to Dunlap's seemingly "tough love" style.  Together they work together well, but there's no doubt than not only Nuri missed Lavin being here but the rest of the kids as well. 

Hope for Lavin's return after this recruiting trip so we can solidify our recruiting and move forward.
