Would love for Moe to stay next year and play alot more 3 if Coach can recruit some 4's and 5's. Really showcase his talent there and push him up to a top 10 pick.

We want him to get drafted in the lottery, and be a star in the league. That can happen, but I don't think it's even reasonable to mention it until he plays like an NBA player. Wes Johnson was one of the best BE players I've ever seen. He was also a 6'8 swingman like Harkless. Similar build. He's averaging 10 ppg in the league. He was pick #3.

You have a hardon for everything syracuse.  Its disgusting and makes me want to puke.  If wes johnson was one of the best be players youve ever seen, you know jack shit abt basketball.  It was obvious he was going to be a bust in thr nba.

I guess I wasn't the only one who has noticed Poison's bootlickin' of Syracuse on here.  It's okay to give another team or the opposition props.  Sheesh!  You seem to be over-the-top, if you ask me.  Wes Johnson was one of the best Big East players you've ever seen?  Oh, well....  I guess to each his or her own.   You're correct, kid....  I never thought Wesley Johnson was gonna do much in the NBA.

IMO, Harkless has a much, better upside in the NBA than Johnson.  I'm sure most hoop heads would probably agree.

It's not a hard on. It's straight up respect for a program that owns us. And Kid, you've been served before regarding Wes Johnson. Classic message board BS right here. Say whatever you want, and there's no accountability.

It's even sadder that you didn't even understand what I said. Johnson is struggling, and I was pointing that out.
And yea, like or not, he was the real deal for the one year he was in the BE. You don't from complete obscurity to lottery pick overnight, of you're not.

I'd love it if we housed SU, but we won't, and I'm sick of an excuse as to why every f'n year.

Boeheim doesn't even consider us a BE team. And why should he? It's hardly ever a game past the first 3 minutes.

When did Wes Johnson become a bust?   He's played one season and averaged like 10 a game.
Bottom line; he was the Big East POY an All American and the number 4 pick.  That'd be a nice goal for Moe but I fear he won't be here long enough to accumulate those accolades.

This would be a horrible year for Moe to come out.  There are 6'7-6'11 rangy athletes all over this draft class.  Moe would be a late first rounder at best, and nobody wants to go into the second round where NOTHING his guaranteed.

I think Moe ends up staying at STJ for three years, and I wouldn't be shocked if he's here for all four years.

As I said before, the worst effect Sampson had for this team is making Moe stand out so damn much.  Those two would have been like twins out there this year, and Moe's stats would be more like 12 and 7 than 16 and 9.

If he keeps playing like he did against Duke, he'll be gone after his sophomore season.

At the end of the day, how impressive are great stats on a 9-12 team? Not a lot of lottery picks coming from really bad teams.

A lot of good points being made.

Something to note, Kemba would not have been drafted in the lotto if not for Big East and Championship runs. His latter conference stats were becoming increasingly worse as teams zoned up on UConn and clamped down on him in conference.

Point being is teams will focus more energy on Moe now, even more so, and I don't think St. John's has a deep March run in them this season. Next year for sure.

I don't think he'll be here for 3 or 4 seasons, but it will only benefit him to stay one more year. He could be a lottery pick if he keeps it up, as opposed to maybe a late first this year, plus he would get another year developing, gaining experience, and adding muscle.

Bottom line he would probably gain more money and be a better basketball player if he stays 2 years. I think he is definitely an NBA talent, but needs to learn a lot before he is ready.

Next year if we have a frontcourt consisting of Gathers, Sampson, Harkless with Gift off the bench, Moe will impress even more being at his natural position SF.

Plenty of programs have owned us over the last 20.  Cuse is the only one you salivate over.  Its sickening.  Keep it o yourself or seek professional help - not normal for a fan of a rival team to do that much booylickin'.

And what i have been owned on re wes?  Refresh my memory...

Another amazing Harkelss stat. Averaging 8.8 rebounds playing out of position in the BE with no help on the boards. W/o doing any prior research I think you have to go back to Zendan Hamilton to find a player avearaging that many boards for SJU.

Also as Jayson Williams used to say when he was rebounding like a madman in the NBA they have to give props to their team mates for missing so many shots giving them the opportunity to get rebounds. lol

So you think it's not cool to give credit to another program who's basketball you'd like to emulate? Watch the way they run their offense, and tell me you don't appreciate that it's worked for almost 35 years. Most unselfish team in the nation. Isn't that what you hope SJU becomes?

Mo's numbers might be better this year then next. Playin the 4-5 might show a lot of 12 board games. He gets to show of those hands. Explosive step to the hoop, 14 feet in he's Durant Like. 30 pts vs.Duke in foul trouble makes him an almost legend. If he don't take no naps, and keeps that motor revving, might get him some surprising feedback at years end. Yes, I would like him to stay, but

The funniest part of these threads is reading all of the rationale on why an 18 year old kid will / should stay in school instead of getting paid millions of dollars to play in the NBA ::) Half this board would probably pimp out their sister to get paid millions to play basketball. I hope he stays but really I think threads begging him to stay( I am sure they are coming too) would be better than most of this hypocritical nonsense.  Again I hope he stays too and I think another year would help him. But getting paid millions to play pro ball is hard to pass up, despite all the sincere advice from all of us for him wait one more year  ::)

Do you disagree that sometimes it's smarter even financially to stay in school another year? We saw it first hand with Omar Cook. Then there are countless players in the NBA who had they developed more in college could be starters in the league, but now they are 10th man. There is a lot of money difference between the 28th pick and the 5th pick. That is the kind of jump Harkless could be looking at if he stays one more year.

I do not know Mo's family's financial situation or  his acadamic situation. Is the differnce between getting picked 8th or 9th better than 25th? Of course. But maybe not to the Harkless family. All I am saying is it is easier to give people advice when it does not affect you at all. If I was offered millions of dollars to play ball after my frosh season I would go. my family was financially secure but I did not love school and it would be my dream job. Why wait if you don't have too?

There's a difference in giving credit to a program (see any of Norm's post-game press conferences) and salivating over them like you do.  No, I do not want to emulate Syracuse.   They have a head coach who until he got cancer was as unlikable an A-hole as there was in coaching, they have an assistant coach who has been accused of molesting little children, they are known cheaters in the recruiting world (read Darcy Frey's book The Last Shot about just a small little taste of what Cuse was doing, and I am sure they were much worse), and for all of this, they have 1 national title to show for it.   If I want to emulate a program, I want to emulate Duke, UNC, or Kansas nationally.  Not effing Syracuse.  Not in a million years.  Not with players like Eric Devendorf and other dirtbags.  But I don't want to emulate ANY program.  We are St. John's.  We make our own name.

Syracuse can do no wrong in your eyes, yet they are less successful than Uconn and Duke, and you hate on them.  Explain that when Duke and Uconn (and throw in UNC but we never play UNC) are the premier programs of the last 20 years pretty much.

Anyway, it's one thing to respect Cuse.  I got no problem if you do.  Personally I hate their guts.   But its a whole DIFFERENT thing to blow them constantly, and I am pretty sure everyone here can vouch that you do.  Did you get rejected bY Cuse as a kid and wish you went there?  Are you doing the advertising for Cuse on the yellow cabs?  Did Boeheim smile at you once?  What's your deal?
