Per Scout.com....

Sampson - #37
Shepard - #38
Gathers - #41
Obekpa - #73

If I told you we get any 2 of those 4 I think everyone would be pretty pretty pleased.

Absolutely.  Lavin says he's signing 5 though.  Who do the recruit savvy folks here think the other 3 guys are?  Hopefully he gets 3 of 4?  Is that a possibility?  Are we counting Branch as one of the 5?

No doubt, but would Obekpa and one of the other 3 be better for our team vs. 2 players that did not include Obekpa?  I don't know the answer.

Good response, DFF.   I, actually doubt he gets all four of 'em.  Quite frankly, he'll probably accept 3 of the 4 and that's it.  Personally, I think he lands 2 or 3 of the above-mentioned.  We have one kid on board with Branch, so that leaves four more kids the staff wanna bring in for 2012.

It's gonna be pretty interesting around here in the spring.  That's for sure.

Well Branch would be 3 I'm guessing.

Lavin gets 2 of the above (i think Sampson and Gathers), plus Branch is an awesome recruiting class.  Add a JUCO and a under the radar type guy like Phil Greene and we're set for a nice Tourney run next year.

i think sampson is the key guy. he was the recruit I was most excited about from last year's class (harkless has already proven me wrong). when i saw him at IS8 he was monster. first two possessions of the game he knocked down back to back 18 foot jumpers. for a guy his size he has amazing ability, he can do everything on the court. his rebounding length and athleticism is exactly what we need.

him and either gathers and obekpa and I would be ecstatic

Still want a PG with one of those rides.

Nice post QF, I agree.  Sampson was the guy I was most looking forward to as well.   If we could somehow land him Obekpa and Sampson, we'd be set.  That would be truly awesome.   Not sure that's going to happen... but we'll see.

CR that's what Branch is for, you think we need another?    After post players I'd look for a shooter next.

I dissagree, to many great PGs we are in the mix for in 13,and w the addition of Branch,im happy w our PG situation for next year.Could use another shooter. Like Moose said and I said previously, I d be very happy getting 2 or the above ranked bigs.

Have to agree that Branch with PG backing up is sufficient PG depth for next year then go hard for Jordan or similar out of the class of 2013.  Especially since Malik will still be around and Dlo can play the position in a pinch and also there's not 4-5 star PG's left for the taking.  Shooter is more important and also want to see Dom attending a shooting clinic all summer so he can play off guard in case of emergency.

I really think that Lavin brings in just 3 more guys, maybe 4 if someone interests him tremendously. I would think he would ant 3 definite ships for 2013 (4 if Moe leaves as a soph)

Don't forget that there are always very good players available late via transfer or after the coaching carousel starts to move.  Lavin will be a great position at that point, because most schools simply won't have any scholarships left in April and May.

It would be incredible to pickup a graduating senior center that would be eligible to play all of next season.  I'd imagine that most of the country is on notice with our five starting freshman and complete lack of depth and size.  No doubt an attractive destination for a kid with one year to play to just walk in an get 30 mpg for a surefire high-major tournament team.

Exactly.  I think we could have 3-4 more wins if we had Ashaolu.  Then again, it would have come at the expense of some minutes of the freshmen.

But it also could have come at the expense of waiting for Pelle.  In other words, would have been good.  Nothing to lose.
